Harue Yasumi founded Yasumi's Art Studio in Honolulu in 1964 upon emigrating from Tokyo with her husband Bunichi, a painter and sculptor trained by the Japanese government to restore national treasures damaged by the Kanto earthquake.
The Yasumis' restoration services and merchandise quickly earned the respect of dealers, collectors and curators in Honolulu and on the mainland. Described by all who met her as a consummate artist and businesswoman, three generations of Yasumis serve through Harue's vision and in her honor.
