harue yasumi founded yasumi's art studio in honolulu in 1964 upon emigrating from tokyo with her husband bunichi, a sculptor trained by the japanese government to restore national treasures damaged by the kanto earthquake.
the yasumis' expert restoration services and exquisite merchandise quickly earned the respect of dealers, collectors and curators, first in honolulu and later on the mainland and throughout the world. harue was described by all who met her as a consummate artist and businesswoman, and today three generations of yasumis serve her vision in her honor.
