| "For as far back as I can remember, the subject and imagery of war have played a part, whether directly or not, in my work. I cannot presume to have an idea as complex as that of War figured out, but what interests me is digging through the rubble and surface of what I think I know, only to find myself met with more disillusionment. The process of painting a subject as such has proven very surprising, and not at all what I expected. The horror of war ended up playing a lesser part as I found myself becoming fascinated in the making of the image. Rebuilding an already destroyed site through my paintings has been immensely satisfying. Finding beauty in this incredibly personal chaos has been a surprising aspect of the process.
