A fabulous two section Japanese Sado Island Isho Tansu made of burl Keyaki wood with Sugi frame and Kiri wood interior dating from the Meiji period (c.1900), with beautiful forged iron fittings on a lacquer finish, all original and in top condition. Japanese Meiji Period (c1900) two-section "Isho" tansu from the Yonezawa area, with beautiful figured Keyaki wood drawer faces and black trim with a reddish lacquered wash on the Sugi wood frame. Original finish! Iron metal fittings with the distinctive Yonezawa cherry blossom locks and "Moko" (melon) drawer pulls. Has a set of three keys, one of which opens the safe to interior drawers.
