Set of Twelve Chinese Jin Dynasty Painted Pottery Filial Piety Tiles with Oxford TL Test (AD 1115 - 1234)

These interesting pottery tiles with the subjects depicted in high relief were made during the Jin Dynasty (AD 1115 - 1234). They are made from quite a high-fired grey pottery that has been "cold painted" in various coloured pigments. Each tile depicts a scene from a story of the paragons of filial piety...

Offered is this exceptionally rare Cypriote glass shade, made by Tiffany Studios, around 1905. Superb iridescence. Though all Tiffany Studios Cypriote glass objects are rare, even rarer are Tiffany's Cypriote glass shades - one seldom comes across a Tiffany Studios Cypriote glass shade in the marketplace (since shades' fitter widths had to hand-made to be of a standard size, in general, it was much more difficult to make shades than vases)...

DESCRIPTION: An early 19th C. three door country New England corner cupboard in original dark blue paint with reddish trim. The interior is washed with a pale green milk paint and has three shelves in the upper portion and storage space in the bottom. Two door panels have age cracks to the wood. A superb piece for a country interior. DIMENSIONS: 71 1/2" high x 41 1/2" wide x 19 1/2" deep.

DESCRIPTION: This large and impressive Chinese porcelain goose, painted in a famille rose pallet, is seated on folded legs with upturned tail and rests on a raised, fitted wood stand. Modeled with a slightly turned head and erect wings that touch at the tips, the body is enameled in a yellow ground with a pink bat and green scrolling vine motif, the lightly molded and naturalistically marked feathers in shades of blue and green...

An impressive Kuro Raku Chawan made by the legendary 12th generation Kichizaemon Kônyû (1857-1932). The name of the Chawan is „Akebono“ - Sunrise.

His childhood name was Kozaburo, later became Kicho (or, Yoshinaga). He was the eldest son of Keinyu, the eleventh generation master. In 1871, he succeeded the family business and became the generation master. In 1919 he retired and took the name as Kônyû. He enjoyed his retirement in practicing tea ceremony and writing haiku...

A George II Sterling Silver tankard, Hallmarked for London, 1759 with the makers mark of John Payne. It weights 23.7 Troy ounces and is 7.5/8" high. It is of Baluster shape on a circular foot. There is a period armorial engraved on the front (signed) with period initials on handle. Excellent condition.

Japanese Genroku Period Imari Tokkuri sake bottle in 4-sided rectangular form. From the early 1700's. Blue on white porcelain base with red and gold overglaze enamels in a floral design. 10 1/2" tall by 4 1/4" by 4 1/4".

Tapering socket with detachable bobeche. Ribboned swags. Fine fluting that shimmers in candlelight. Fully marked including maker's stamp, pattern no. 19187 (first produced in 1916), director’s letter m, and phrase “Reproduction Original by John Parsons & Co. Sheffield 1784”...

An exquisitely detailed 5" silver wired scenic cabinet vase decorated with four panels, each representing a different bird - a white egret in a stream, a sparrow and bamboo, a hawk perched on a pine tree, and a finch on a flowering branch. Highly polished, the workmanship is exceptional. The throat and base are gilded, the rims silver. It is marked on the bottom rim within a reserve "SILVER". Condition: Excellent, with no chips, hairlines or repairs.

Round and curved bowl mounted to open support comprising three leafing oak shoots with acorns inset with cast figure of standing boy holding a ball in each hand with one arm raised. Domed foot. Reeding and beading.

A magnificent and extraordinarily rare tole tray depicting the surrender of the French army to the English following the Battle of the Plains of Abraham in 1760. The quality of painting is stunning. The two figures in the foreground represent General James Wolfe (in red) and the Marquis de Montcalm (in blue). Both generals died from their wounds within hours of the end of the battle, but the painter took artistic liberties by presenting them both in apparently good health...

Fine large, 21 inch long, sterling silver mirrored plateau by Jean Francois Veyrat, 10 Rue De La Tour, Paris. This plateau features four cast silver hoof feet and a beveled mirror. In excellent condition with just normal antique wear to the mirror, it is fully hallmarked and has a wood bottom. Measures 21" long, 17" wide, and 2.25" high. Circa 1880.

The beaked iron grip lavishly inlaid in gold overall in alternating bands of vinework and beading, the pommel with concealed container has a hidden compartment probably for storing poison in case of being captured. Forte of straight, single-edged blade decorated en suite with gold panels. In its velvet-covered wooden scabbard. Late 19th century. Overall length 35.8 cm. Condition Report: Excellent.
