An interesting celadon jarlet, dated to Song Dynasty or earlier. This globular shaped bottle has fine crackle olive-green glaze with dripping marks, underneath coated with a white slip, with reddish firing marks on its exposed dark grey stoneware body. An indented thumb mark is found on the waist area which I guess was made for easy grabbing of the bottle. Rather thinly potted and light in weight, this jarlet is in excellent condition with no chip, no crack and free of restoration...

These came from the Sino/Lao Fansipan Mountains border area and date circa 80 to 90 years old. 3.6cm/1.4in x 3.6cm/1.4in x 3.6cm/1.4in. There is ne age related crack.

With the mark last used in 1896 by F M Whiting to be changed to Frank M Whiting Co of North Attleboro MA, one finds this sterling silver bypass napkin ring or could it double as a baby bracelet? You can find the maker's mark of what appears to be a winged griffin? Please see page 367 of Schiffer's Revised Fourth Edition of Encyclopedia of American Silver Manufacturers.
