The subject is bokudo - a theme of a perfect peace of mind, and one of the stages of a journey towards Buddhahood. This porcelain demitasse cup and saucer was produced Germany by the Royal Berlin Porcelain Manufacturer, or KPM, in the 1890s. The saucer measures 4 ¼ inches and the cup is 1 ½ inches high. The set is made of fine hard paste porcelain. Both pieces are hand painted with delicate flowers in bright colors. Little sprigs of flowers are scattered about. Lacy gilding trims the borders. The rims and handle are accented with gold. Condition: Excellent

This porcelain tea cup and saucer was produced in France by a Paris manufacturer in the 1880s. It has a spurious Sevres mark on the bottom. The saucer has a diameter of 4 ¾ inches and the cup is 2 ¼ inches high. The ground color is deep cobalt blue. There are reserves on the front of the cup and two on the saucer containing hand painted scenes. The front of the cup has a lovely couple in a forest landscape. I don't know quite how to describe this one, so I will begin somewhere. This is a sort of milk glass plate with ornate edge pattern with cut-outs, 8" in diameter.
