A rare Seto Chawan with wonderful glaze made by one of the best potters of the early 20th century - the 1st Shuntei Kato (1885 - 1961). This tea bowl was made over 100 years ago and it comes with the originally signed wooden box of the artist.
His real name is Kanae KATO. He was born 1885 as the third son of Shunsen KATO.
In 1907 he established a branch family, named himself Shuntei and became the first generation...
A Korean, blue and white glazed, pear-shaped vase; Joseon dynasty, C18th.
Sparingly decorated with an 'insects and flowers' design to the body of the vase, and elegantly rising, from it's wide foot, to form a piriform-shape.
Dimensions; 15cm tall.
Condition; age related scratches to the body of the vase, a rim chip, and two short hairlines to the rim. A small area of glaze skip to the neck of the vase.
A Korean, celadon glazed, brush washer with inlaid sanggam motifs of chrysanthemum, ruyi and scroll borders; Goryeo dynasty. C13-14th.
This brush washer is fully glazed, appearing an attractive blue colour where the glaze pools, and rested on three kiln supports during firing; the remnants of which may be found to the outer base.
Dimensions; 12.8cm diameter.
Condition; with some age related wear, the mouth-rim with an old repair and associated hairline.
A lovely patinated lead seal bullah or bulla, Early Ottoman Empire, dated to 1579-1580, from Constantinoble / Istanbul.
Enigmatic piece untranslated but for the year and 'Qostantiniye' 7 lines of script.

A substantial and attractive bronze figure of a coiled snake, Roman Imperial, 1st.-3rd. cent.
Size: 5,5 cm. in diameter and c. 4 cm. tall weighing 160 grams.

An attractive modern necklace with an ancient Thoeris faiance amulet encased in 18 carats gold and with ancient faiance beads.
The gold beads are probably also ancient, the silver wire necklace and the golden lock modern.

An attractive Uruk Zoomorphic stamp seal pendant, c. late 4th.-early 3rd. millenium BC.
The seal carved in a wonderful transperant stone and depicts an animal rearing it's head. The base carved with a Grit pattern and central piercing.

A fine scaraboid stamp seal, clearly inspired by New Kingdom Egyptian scaraboids, East Anatolia / West Mesopotamia, c. 15th.-12th. cent. BC
The scarab shows a fierce creature reclining right.

A lovely and rare stamp seal depicting two horned animals mating, West-Mesopotamia, c. 2nd.-1st. mill. BC.
The seal is exceptionally well-carved for the type with a four-side and pierced handle atop of the rectangular base. The stone is even dark green. Rare depiction!

Large late Qing dynasty Guangxu period Straits lidded baluster form jar, or "general's helmet jar" (jiang jun guan), decorated in underglaze blue against a white porcelain background with four “shuangxi” symbols (indicating double-happiness and wedded bliss) surrounded by a stylized pattern of pencil style scrolling sweet pea flowers and vines (symbolizing “many children”).
