Offered is an early 1900s, very striking, low profile, hickory shaft era, golf club, stamped "JIGGER" on the sole. A jigger in golf is a club in between a mashie and a mid iron essentially one with a low loft.

The club sports a nice patina throughout including an original grip and desirable smooth face construction. Measures 37 inches from the heel to end of the straight, sturdy shaft. The club shows mild wear and is void of any cleek or maker marks...

Large circular plate beautifully and intricately decorated with concentric embossed designs, consisting in, on the front side, from the center to the rim: - in the center, a Citipati holding a skull in his left hand and a khatvangha in his right dancing on a lotus base and framed by a flaming mandorla, - a circle of tiny stylised Citipati, - a circle of skulls, - a wide circle containing two dragons facing the Flaming Pearl and two phoenixes below framing two deers facing the Wheel of the L...

Nice old Tibetan or Baotou saddle carpet, with floral medallions and scroll pattern. There are some repairs and restorations which I have highlighted in enlargement two. An authentic 17/18th century Japanese Edo Period sake bottle in blue and white , in good condition

Vibrant yellow enameled porcelain 'Birthday' plate inscribed "wan shou wu chiang" in circular reserves. Underside bears six-character iron red Guangxu period (1875-1908) with "CHINA" export mark. In excellent condition, it measures a little over 8" (20.32 cm) diameter.

Offered are three, circa 1900-1905 era, Spalding, smooth face, hickory shaft golf clubs. Although smooth face golf clubs fell out of fashion and perhaps function by the very early 1900s, they were still offered in catalogues for a number of years beyond this date.

The first club has "THE SPALDING" stamped on the back of the face as well as on the shaft and dates to pre 1900. It measures 36" from the heel to the top of the shaft and appears minimally used...

A lovely ancient Egyptian Scarab, c. 1400 BC, from the famous Mitry collection (see our Homepage). It is 3/8” long (9 mm) and made of steatite, an easy-to-carve stone that hardens when heated. Scarabs empowered life and resurrection and were often placed under mummy wrappings to protect the body and to help it resurrect. This Scarab comes in a jewelry display cup.

A very good and large scroll painting in ink and colours on paper, depicting the Immortal Gama Sennin (Chinese: Liuhai ) the “Toad Hermit”, with the three-legged toad. Gama Sennin is connected to good luck and wealth. Both Gama Sennin and his toad friend are depicted in a very sweet, humorous manner. It was probably part of a sliding door, later remounted as a scroll with a very beautiful, high quality brocade...

A tortoise shell and sterling silver inlay cigarette box, the interior cedar wood. The underline of the text with makers mark for Saunders & Shepherd (the firm founded in 1869 and still working), town mark for their Chester branch and L for 1894. Measures "4 / 10.3 cm x "4 / 10 x "2/ 5 cm. Condition: slight warping to the corners of the lid (cf. pics).

Finely carved mask of the Noh traditional theater, with a verystrong expression, representing the character of Otobide. The mask is made of wood, painted in gold (the whole face), black (for the eyebrows and moustache, also on top of the forehead) and red (for the mouth), and the eyes are made of brass. A scarce and nicely formed bronze netsuke. The sculptural group depicts festival musicians playing a Taiko drum and Shinobue flute - the drum player with mask pulled back. Nicely detailed, down to the fingers and expressions of the musicians. The himmotoshi is formed by the extended arm of one figure supporting the figure atop the Taiko. Edo period, 19th century. Good condition with rich, natural patina. Height, 1 5/8 inches
