19th century boxwood netsuke carved as a group of 7 theatrical masks of an oni, a shojo, Buaku, Okame, Okina, Hyottoko and (possibly) Fudo. Wonderful piece in Japanese taste with excellent precisely carved faces, very beautiful wear with superb patina. A fine and early Worcester sweetmeat, the open shell curled over at one side, the undulating rim strongly shaded in green with a yellow inner border to the green. Painted in the Meissen style with a central flower spray surrounded by scattered smaller sprays.

Superb bright condition with no issues at all. The length is 4 3/4", the width 5 1/4", and the height 1 3/4".

NOTE: A similar dish, in a more common color, sparser painting, and with wear sold at the Bonham's sale in March, 2010.

Left - The Bars quilt might also be called a strippy. The Bars are filled with One Patches of a nice variety of printed fabrics. It is machine quilted; excellent condition. The backing is the same fabric as the two outer borders. Measurements are 11 1/4" x 15"; made circa 1880. Price is $325. Right - Evening Stars- hand quilted. Stars measure 2 3/4" to a side. Nicely planned with continuous use of the same fabrics for sashing in both directions...

A fine Georgian double series opaque twist (dsot) ale glass with an elongated round funnel bowl engraved with hops and barley, the stem with a pair of spiral threads outside of a lace twist. For a similar glass see Bickerton p.226, figure 683.

The glass stands 7 1/2 inches tall, with a bowl diameter of 2 3/8 inches and a foot diameter of 3 inches. Good color, striations, and tool marks, with a rough snapped pontil. Wonderful condition with no flaws or restoration.

Rare cream colored Myanmar bowl with incised lotus design circa 13th/14th CE, found at the Tak Hilltop Burial Site along the border of Burma and Thailand. There are three repairs on the rim. In the years of collecting these I have only seen one undamaged piece. D: 17.7cm/7in and H: 7.5cm/2.9in.

Good Ming Dynasty celadon saucer with impressed floral medallion in center. This piece has warm olive color to it- a nice heavy piece with a good shiny glaze; possibly meant to be a brushwasher. There was an “overdone” restoration that covered 8cm on the rim which I removed and redid with a basic gold leaf and lacquer repair covering only 1.3cm- noted in enlargements. D: 14.8cm/5.8in and H: 3.8cm/1.5in.

Buddhist grey pottery “lotus petal” offering jar circa 1200/1300CE with Chinese Zodiac, human figures and vajra impressed pattern. Excellent condition, no damage. This is from the independent Dali Kingdom which was centered in Yunnan Province. These were not used as “bone ash” reliquaries but were found in connection with tombs sometimes containing small offerings such as beads, gilt bronze objects or bits of paper with writing. H: 27cm/10.6in and D: 17cm/6.7in.
