He was a lamp maker, known as M. Novius Justus, with a workshop situated in North Africa and produced oil lamps from 120 – 180 AD.

A charming model of an elephant holding his trunk in the air and standing on a square base. He is covered in a rich flambe glaze draining and thinning at the high points. The body appears to be a grey porcelain or porcelaneous stoneware. I am not sure if it is Shiwan (I can find no reference to it).

Dating from the C20th, probably republic, it stands 19.5 cms high and weighs 1232 gms. (So consider postage costs).

The tip of his trunk has been re-stuck with old glue...
