Very fine old wool pangden cloth- all hand spun wool and natural dyes. This piece is an exceptionally large piece consisting of 5 panels, circa 40 to 50 years old. I have had quite a few of these in the past and this is one of best I have seen. The weave is very tight and heavy and would make an excellent small blanket or throw rug. In the past these were worn by married women, but these days they are a fashion accoutrement for the modern Tibetan woman...

The Windmill Blades (aka Pineapple Log Cabin) quilt is always a design with lots of strong movement. In this example, the solid red centers effectively play off against the remaining printed fabrics. The use of dark prints around the red centers of the off blocks create a wonderful diamond in the square. Half blocks around the edge create a nice frame. The front of the quilt is in spotless condition. There are some dark spots on the back but they do not show through.
Measurements are 86" square...

Daruma standing tall, wrapped tightly in his garment, the tips of his feet just peeping out. This pose is associated with the episode in which Daruma travels to China, crossing the river Yangzi, while standing on a reed.
The figure was molded in a cast in two halves and joined before firing. A hole in the back functions as a vent and prevents the statue from exploding while fired in the kiln.
