Vertical oval window in gilt surround with applied wreaths, ribbons, scrolls, and flowers, and shaped cobalt enamel reveals with gilt bow-tied garland borders. Beading, dentil, and imbricated leaves. With glass, textile-lined back, and hinged support. Very good condition.

A small Bilston patch box, enamel on copper, mid-18th century, in a design somewhere between Rococo and Louis XVI: the outer shape softly rounded, the pattern more strict, of diaper type, textile-like. Patches, often in black silk, were used to conceal scars or blemishes from smallpox or other diseases. At the time Bilston, a town in West Midlands was famous for their enamel boxes. Featuring a lovely Japanese cloisonne ginbari cloisonne enamel silver wire vase with subtle iris motif in soft shades of lavender, blue, pink and green leaves. The iris design encircles the entire vase, a rare motif in ginbari. The background shades from silvery blue at the neck to silver at the base. Wonderful to wear as a pendant this retractable pencil slides into an enameled gilded mummy. In the 1870s-1880s, the Egyptian Revival styles were in vogue as archaeological digs discovered ancient tombs that brought to light rare finds. Their motifs were incorporated into jewelry, objects, furniture, glass and pottery.

A pair of Qing dynasty Chinese cloisonne enamel lobed plant pots or jardinieres. These late 18th/early 19th century shrub pots are similar but not identical. The 7-1/2" x 5-3/4" bowls feature blue grounds and well-executed multi-colour cloisonne designs. They are both footed and each has water drain holes in the bottoms. Each bowl has some damage, with incomplete or chipped enamel under the rims, enamel misses and chips and a large loss to the upper rim enamel on one pot...
