An impressive early Pewter Stein, Germany, dated 1798 on the lid, but probably made much earlier in the 18th. century.

Profusely decorated over the entire surface with frases / sayings and images of Crowned Guild symbolics, a heart and a crowned cross etc. The lid also engraved with a owners name - MARGRETA JURGSEN 1794.

With German Pewter touchmarks, perhaps dating it 1733 (?).

Such high quality tankard from this period is very rare!

Facial masks and Guild symbols below. The lid beautifully engraved with a German text, reading BIS BRÜDERLICE EINGIKEIT 1665. A tankard probably made as a memorial of the founding of the Guild.

Antique over 200 years old, from 1823, massive German pewter lidded beer tankard stein.

It features a tapered cylindrical shape with molded rims, a "C" section handle with a squared-off terminal, and a flat, domed hinged lid with a ball thumbpiece.

The stein lid is engraved with the inscription: "Die PilgrimSchaft Derd Der Sterblichkeit," along with the date 1823. The stein is marked underneath with the maker's and the town's touchmark.
