These are two linen homespun pillow cases that are beautifully made. They are embroidered with the name Emily Clark with a heart and the number 4. They are is excellent condition with just a little age related yellowing. The stitches are so tiny you can’t see them at the hemmed end. They are 15 ½” by 38”. Circa 1820-30

This early very beautiful Civil War era capelet is a rich reddish brown calico made with the finest cotton fabric that looks like it might be homespun. The workmanship is the best. The capelet is 14” back of neck to bottom and is 10” front down to bottom and 24” spread out. Circa 1860 and excellent condition and Museum quality.

A very nice pair of antique hand knit blue and white cotton socks with a initials at the top. I think the initials are WWF. The stockings are knit with three different weight cotton yarn the heaviest is the wonderful true blue that is the foot and ankle where all the wear is and the area where you want the most cushioning. The lighter blue is medium weight and the white is the lightest where you don't want it to bind. The have been used but not abused...

All hand pieced and quilted cut corner doll quilt. It has been professionally mounted. There is one spot more noticeable in the picture than in person. The quilt is 17" wide and 19" long. The frame is 19" by 21". This little amazing quilt is out of a local attic a number of years ago. I love hanging these dear doll quilts on fronts and backs of doors. (I have run out of wall space!) A three-color overshot coverlet with a pattern of snowballs and stripes on the dark ground side. The border on three sides is wavy lines and the fringe is a continuation of the white warp threads on the bottom and the red and blue weft threads on the sides. The warp is cotton and the weft is wool. The seam down the middle indicates that it was done on a narrow loom, though the sophisticated design and the three colors suggest that it was woven by a professional. Diamond in squares doll quilt (aka economy patch) with both funkiness and great attention to detail. The border around the diamonds in squares alternates between the green calico and brown printed fabrics. Surely this is an indication of the care with which the maker created this small quilt. At the same time, the backing consists of a central calico bar set at an angle between two sections of brown wool. Intentional or careless? Who knows? It is nicely hand quilted.
