Antique Balouchi balisht front, in excellent full pile un-restored condition, with natural dyes, complete with flat-weave ends. Great color palette, including the use of green. It appears to date from the end of the nineteenth century. 22" by 37".
Charming Georgian schoolgirl silk needlework picture of a young girl and her spaniel. The girl is holding out her hand to the little dog, which stands on its hind legs. The detail is incredible: from the little dog, to the window with trees beyond, to the rug with vari-colored squares, to the girl’s dress and blue sash, it’s all beautifully done. Very good condition; there’s a slight sheen to the girl’s face where the weave may have begun to wear. Later frame and backing...

Unusual arrangement of Courthouse Steps in which each block is set on the diagonal. Wonderful combination of solids with printed wool fabrics that are set off by the tiny red centers of each block. Barnraising Log Cabin quilt done in silks and satins with velvet centers making it far dressier and more elegant than most cotton versions. Small scale to the quilt and the blocks. Straight Furrows Log Cabin pattern with two unusual features: the center of each log is divided on the diagonal adding intensity to the furrows; and the color scheme is out of the ordinary. The blacks and grays are not often seen in such predominance with the other colors chosen for this quilt. Unwashed condition; flawless with the exception of two small, old and well done patches on the border that are visible in the last thumbnail photo. Pennsylvania origin; circa 1910. An exuberant quilt that is unusual in several ways. The egg yolk colored centers of each sunflower date to about 1890. The three different printed fabrics used for the diamonds all date between 1830 and 1850. Wonderful border treatment really does give the effect of rising suns. Very well quilted; unwashed condition. Fabrics used for the white background have aged to different shades of ivory...
