This Pots of Flowers Quilt is unusual in that it is simultaneously fanciful and elegant. The blossoms are far larger than their container giving this otherwise elegant quilt a touch of whimsey. The entire quilt is done in cotton sateen making it "dressier" than many. The applique and reverse applique are elaborately done. Measurements are 84 inches square. Unwashed, excellent condition. Made circa 1920.

Early and compex quilt pattern of Hexagons within Hexagons. Forms a secondary pattern of Six Point Stars around the basic hexagonal block. Beautiful fabrics; heart quilted within each small triangle. Chevrons quilted in large light triangles and cables in the red banding. Difficult to see because of the heavily patterned fabrics but well done. Excellent condition. Measures 85" x 94"; Pennsylvania origin. Circa 1860.

To the best of my knowledge, this is a unique pattern. The bars are an unusual variation of Tree Everlasting and combined with the Crossed Tulips, I believe it to be one of a kind. The use of solid colors further sets off the wonderful center. Excellent condition; has been professionally washed. Measures 87" x 97"; circa 1870. Pennsylvania origin.

This Mennonite Touching Stars quilt clearly reflects the Victorian era in which it was made. The stars are made of totally irregular pieces similar to those used in Victorian Crazy quilts. It is all wool with a nice variety of embroidered stitching throughout the stars and the Four Patches between them. It is in excellent condition; measurements are 78" x 82"...

This beautiful applique quilt appears to be an original pattern alternating with traditional oakleaves. The red fabric is as unusual as the pattern. It is very well quilted with wreaths between the applique. The centers have different designs including hearts; stars; apples; flowers and a pear. The quilt is in excellent unwashed condition. There is slight unevenness to the background that could be remedied with a wash but I don't feel it is necessary. Measurements are 86" x 88"...

An exuberant quilt that is unusual in several ways. The egg yolk colored centers of each sunflower date to about 1890. The three different printed fabrics used for the diamonds all date between 1830 and 1850. Wonderful border treatment really does give the effect of rising suns. Very well quilted; unwashed condition. Fabrics used for the white background have aged to different shades of ivory...

This Ohio Stars quilt also goes by the name of Variable Stars. It is exquisitely quilted. From a distance, it looks as though the quilted wreaths are trapunto but when one feels it, it is apparent that they are not actually stuffed. Measurements are 64" x 72"; excellent condition. Made circa 1870's; Ohio origin.

There's method to this madness. What at first appears to be a jumble is actually an orderly arrangement of Nine Patch and Hourglass quilt blocks arranged in rows. While different in size, nearly each block is framed by log cabin strips. Three borders are the same triangles; the fourth is diagonal strips. Excellent, probably unwashed condition. Light smudging on one block. Soft calico prints are beautifully combined to create a twinkly palette of light and dark...

Great combination of Bars and Nine Patch Quilt. Extra bonus is the Cheater's Cloth backing, making it totally reversible to a printed patchwork. Nine Patches are smaller than postage stamp size. Each piece is a miniaturized 1/2" to a side. Excellent condition; damage to only one block - visible in last of the thumbnail photos showing the Nine Patches. Terrific fabrics both front and back. Measures 76" x 78". Pennsylvania origin; circa 1880.

This beautifully crafted quilt combines two traditional patterns that I have never seen abutting one another. The red and white blocks are Fox and Geese (aka Double X or Crosses and Losses). Placing them next to the Pinwheels of such different colors makes for two equally dominant patterns that play well off each other. The quilt has been professionally laundered and is in pristine condition. It has beautiful quilting that includes a graceful feather throughout the border...
