This exuberant Pots of Flowers Quilt is finely quilted and appliqued. It is dated 1876 in quilting with initials EG. Abutting hearts in the center are a lovely design but the star they form makes it even more special. The center design is surrounded by a quilted wreath. Partial wreaths are throughout the body of the quilt. Flower buds in the pots are repeated in the border to make it all a perfectly unified design. The quilt has been professionally laundered and is in mint condition...
Antique South Persian rug, Khamseh federation, measuring 53" x 95", in excellent untouched condition. This rug has the characteristic floppy handle one expects from the best of its type. Natural dyes.
This is a bold variation of a traditional Princess Feather Quilt. The center and ends of the feathers are especially unusual. It is well quilted with feather and cross hatch patterns. Measurements are 81" square. It is in excellent, unwashed condition.

This is an extraordinary, bold and original interpretation of a Honeycomb, or Hexagon pattern quilt. Graceful wreaths and vining borders are brilliantly offset against the dominant central pattern. Illustrated in The Quilt Engagement Calendar when I last owned it: I have recently re-purchased it from a collection. Very well pieced and appliqued. Finely cross hatch quilted. Unwashed condition; several area of light discoloration are visible in thumbnail photos...
Richly colored Barnraising Log Cabin quilt on Square done in beautiful wool challis fabrics. Solids and prints are well placed to make the various frames especially prominent. Excellent condition; measures 78" x 92". Pennsylvania origin; circa 1880.
This folky Sampler Quilt has a great combination of traditional and original blocks. Nothing could be more traditional than the center Schoolhouse done with nicely inked detail. Below it is a Bear's Paw signed "Fannie J. Gould March 24, 1892".
While the top was certainly made in the 19th century, the backing is later. It seems to be from the 1950's.
The quilt is in excellent condition. Measurements are 76" x 78"; New England origin.
This charming hooked rug shows two cats with a variety of flowers of vastly different sizes and shapes. Soft colors are brightened by the judicious use of red. The rug is professionally mounted on a stretcher measuring 19" x 30". Pennsylvania origin; late 19th century.
This Feathered Stars quilt is exquisitely made in every way. It is tightly pieced with small triangles to the stars as well as the triple border. Placement of the stars creates wonderful positive/negative images with the off blocks. Floral medallions are quilted in the square off blocks. The diamond shaped blocks are quilted with a variety of floral; fylfot and heart patterns.

This overwhelming wedding quilt is made of Variable Star blocks, each a different red printed fabric. All of the blocks are signed with names from New Jersey.
The center Compass block has a detailed inked inscription that reads "Samuel C Deacon Mary A Deacon 1846 As we have got married and the most of you are not I hope you will not long tarry in making up the plot Mary A Bodine and Samuel C Deacon was married the 18th day of December 1845 February 4th 1846"...

A geometric design consisting of five large cruciform leshgi star medallions on a rust orange field containing numerous additional forms, framed by a major border of cruciform diamonds on a white field...
11'7" x 7'2" with central cartouche and a charcoal background. Fringe intact and backed.
Antique (19th Century) Central or Western Anatolian prayer or altar kilim, in beautiful condition. 3'4" by 7'2". All natural dyes, complete sides and ends. Two well done old repairs lower left. From a design standpoint this kilim is arranged like an Obruk kilim (the pointed hooked mirhab topped with a tree of life design, and flanked in the spandrels by two more such designs). However the color palette and the feel are not typically Obruk.

Elegant version of the popular Tumbling Blocks quilt pattern. Done in silks with a velvet border. Each half cube around the border is embellished with a different embroidery color and pattern. Excellent condition; Pennsylvania origin. Circa 1880; measures 66" x 76".
This extraordinary quilt is so much more than a traditional Double Nine Patch pattern. Not only do the alternate blocks form an additional strong pattern; when seen from a distance, the viewer realizes that each Nine Patch block is set in a brown circle, all of which are gracefully connected. Excellent condition; measures 82" x 84". Well crafted. Likely an original patern. Circa 1870.
It's safe to say that this folky sampler or album crib quilt is a one of a kind. The blocks are appliqued; ruched and embroidered.
Many are floral motifs but it also includes an American flag; eagle; stars and moon as well as two not quite determined animals. It's interesting that even though there is a range of detail and skill, it all appears to have been done by the same hand.
The front is a wool ground with primarily wool applique and embroidery that seems to be late 19th century...
