This Fence Rail Log Cabin doll quilt is made of richly colored plush velvets. Each block is just 2 inches to a side. The quilt is in a goldleaf frame (not of the period) measuring 13 3/4" x 20". The quilt appears to be in perfect condition although I have not seen it out of the frame. There are a few chips to the frame. The colors are beautifully coordinated. The quilt dates to about the 1890's.

All hand pieced and quilted cut corner doll quilt. It has been professionally mounted. There is one spot more noticeable in the picture than in person. The quilt is 17" wide and 19" long. The frame is 19" by 21". This little amazing quilt is out of a local attic a number of years ago. I love hanging these dear doll quilts on fronts and backs of doors. (I have run out of wall space!) This Hourglass crib quilt can be seen as several different patterns. There is the diagonal design in which the indigo triangles make up the bow tie. Alternatively, the primary pattern can be seen as the indigo Four Patch with the light triangles making up the Hourglasses. The binding is the back turned over to the front. While every indication is that it has been this way for many years, it is odd that on one edge, pieces of each block seem to be cut off...

Lovely 18th century “hairwork” silk embroidered picture, depicting a man with a donkey and dog walking along a riverfront. There are two boats on the river and, on the far bank, two grand houses surrounded by formal parks. The picture is worked in black silks on an ivory silk faille ground. It’s called a “hairwork” because it resembles hair embroideries and may incorporate hair in its composition. Set in an oval gilt and wood frame measuring 6 ½” by 8 ¼”. Unglazed...

An early 19th century needlework landscape scene, featuring a thatched cottage by a river. The scene is filled with wonderful details: there’s a dog in front of the house, a bridge over the river and swans a swimming. And on the opposite bank, there’s a shepherd playing a flute to his sheep! The picture is set in a gilt gessoed frame, which exhibits losses – chips, scratches, cracks.
