This hooked rug is done in a quilt pattern known as Straight Furrows Log Cabin. The diagonal lights and darks make a wonderful design. The rug is made of wool; circa 1920's; from New York State. The rug itself is in excellent condition. Measurements are 18" x 36". It is mounted on a homemade stretcher that, in all honesty, is not an enhancement. It should probably be re-mounted or it could be used as a table mat without being mounted.

This triangles pattern doll quilt can be seen as a number of patterns. The square blocks divided into two triangles are put together so as to look like an Hourglass: Pinwheel or Broken Dishes. It is nicely quilted in double rows; in excellent condition. Measurements are 14 1/2" x 22". Pennsylvania origin; circa 1890. The color is more toward marigold than shows on my monitor.

This Four Patch Doll Quilt was likely a practice piece for a young girl. The diagonal line quilting along the border, for instance, is clearly an effort at fine stitching yet the wobbliness and irregularity of the lines may indicate it was made by a novice. Similarly, the piecing of the printed triangles fabric on the right border was done by someone who had not fine tuned her skills. In spite of (or because of) these technical flaws, the quilt has a real charm to it...

The border on three sides is wavy lines and the fringe is a continuation of the white warp threads on the bottom and the red and blue weft threads on the sides. Wool and cotton fabrics. Goo...
