Diamond in squares doll quilt (aka economy patch) with both funkiness and great attention to detail. The border around the diamonds in squares alternates between the green calico and brown printed fabrics. Surely this is an indication of the care with which the maker created this small quilt. At the same time, the backing consists of a central calico bar set at an angle between two sections of brown wool. Intentional or careless? Who knows? It is nicely hand quilted. Wool and cotton fabrics...

These are barely worn leather shoes made in the second
quarter of the 19th century. They have a label from Rodney's Manufacturer at 17 North Third Street in Philadelphia.
In the 18th and early 19th centuries, shoemaking was one of Philadelphia's leading industries. In the 1850's, shoes began to be made shaped for left and right feet. Prior to that time, they were known as "straights" and by wearing them, they molded to each foot...
It is not often that I get a nice quilted pillow case never mind that it has brown and blue calico fabric. It is all hand sewn and the fabrics are 1870's. It is a size that fits regular bed pillow. I used a fairly large puffy pillow and it still worked well. There are a few penny sized spots that have started to fray a little but it would be fine on a guest bed or stuck in a comfy easy chair. It is 22" by 15". (Bed pillow doesn't come with it.)

Indigo and white Nine Patch quilt with an unusual variation of a zig zag border. One of the Nine Patch blocks reverses the navy and white squares. Legend has it that this is an intentional mistake, or humility patch, for only God is perfect. In actuality, I know of no documentation that such blocks existed; they were likely simply human error. Excellent condition; circa 1880. Measures 70" x 86"; Pennsylvania origin.
This is a hand sewn and hand quilted antique doll quilt circa 1850-60. It is random and naïve and very pleasing to the eye. It has been professionally mounted. I love hanging these doll quilts on fronts and backs of doors. (I have run out of wall space!) This one is 16" by 16" and mounted 18" by 18".
This Lancaster County Mennonite Baskets quilt is unusual for the small scale of the baskets. Each measures 4 inches tall and is filled with triangles. The off blocks are quilted with cross patterns and cable in the border. The handles are machine appliqued, as is often the case. Everything else is hand sewn. The small scale zigzag inner border is a wonderful complement to the baskets. The background color is a slightly dusty green. The same fabric is used for the entire backing...
This Delectable Mountains quilt is delectable not just for the name of the pattern. The choices of color and printed fabrics are equally delectable. The quilt has a wonderful zigzag border in a print very similar to the brown used in the body of the quilt. It is in pristine, unwashed condition.

Early antique homespun cotton handkerchief in blue and white. It is very tightly woven and soft to the touch. It has two initials M and H. This is an American and possibly Shaker made. It is 17 1/2" by 19 1/2". The condition is excellent with some slight age discoloration. This was made for longevity! Circa 1830-40.
