Antique Persian saddlebag, Shiraz, 19th Century, natural dyes, good condition, one of two. Both of these bags are notable for the silkiness of the wool and the high saturation of the dyes.
Tiny 19th century netted purse, in salmon silk thread. Gilt frame and piereced gilt frame. Very good condition. Measures 3" by 1 3/4".
Pretty aubergine silk reticule dating from the second quarter if the 19th century. Neatly embroidered with the initials 'E.E.' worked in floral sprigs, and decorated with flowers and silk covered acorn tassel heads. Gorgeous fire-colored silk lining. Very good condition; a few faded spots; a few loose threads on the acorn tassels. Measures 9 3/4” by 7 1/4”.
Fantastic early 19th century double-sided petit point flint case with steel frame and cut steel fastener. The front depicts two rabbits and a floral spray; the back features a spaniel. Brown silk lining; black braided piping and fastener loop. Excellent condition. Measures 2 1/2” by 2 1/4”.
What a superb little early 19th century purse. It features fish scales and gold metallic thread embroidered on red velvet. The fish scales form the flowers and leaves of the design – the flowers have gold beads at their centers. Pretty scalloped gilt frame; white silk lining; gold bead looped edging. Good condition; there is some disintegration to scales. Measures 4” by 3 1/2”.
Finely made blocks are set on point to create a densely patterned Turkey Tracks quilt. Half blocks are used on the edges to form an interior border. The dogtooth outer border combines well with the triangles of the Turkey Tracks blocks. Quilted with cable patterns in the sashing and diagonal lines in the border.
Measurements are 90" x 94". Made of two different red printed fabrics. Has one area of light toning but no other condition apologies. Made circa 1830's.
A wonderful 1830's ladies' reticule with a little bit of everything! The purse is fashioned of cream satin and decorated with chain stitched floral embroidery, moss green and dusky pink velvet bands , gold metallic lace, spangles, and beads. The best part is a flip down bottom which hides a mirror within. Green silk lining. There is shattering to the cream silk, especially on the sides. 7” by 7”.
Beautiful early 19th century embroidered white silk reticule, featuring delicate sprays of flowers. Double sided; twist fringe; crocheted and twist tassels; white silk lining. Silk is foxed and shredded toward the top; embroidery is lovely. Measures 8” not including fringe.
Fantastic double-sided ivory silk embroidered purse, circa 1730-1750. The front features a gorgeous blossom with beautifully shaded petals and a black center unusually constructed of black metal bands. The reverse features two smaller flowers, one with a metallic thread center. Pink ruched edging; pink ribbon drawstring; pink silk lining. Very good condition for such a delicate piece; ivory silk on the front appears to have some oil stains throughout; small section of edging is loose...
Interesting 18th century beaded coin purse, probably English or French, featuring a pattern of red flowers with green leaves against a gold ground. Construction is similar to sable beadwork, but these beads are much bigger than most sable beading. The lining is a beautiful 18th century silk. Excellent condition. Measures 4” by 3 1/2”.
A pair of beautiful early wedding garters with great American provenance. The white silk garters are embroidered in bright chenille flowers, with the motto “la vertu” (virtue) on one, and “m’attache” (is attached to me, tied to me, etc.) on the other. A rare, early 17th century drawstring purse, worked in golden and silver metallic threads in plaited braid stitches and edged with green silk thread. Classically Jacobean, this purse features a knotted square design and is decorated with three plaited tassel balls to the bottom edge and two large balls at each top corner. Lined in pink silk, now discolored. Great condition for its age; drawstring and small sections of stitching are lacking. Measures 5 1/4” by 4 7/8”.
