This unusual Mennonite Log Cabin crib quilt has an equally prominent secondary pattern of an Eight Pointed Star. The red center of each block is often believed to represent the fire in the hearth. The front of the quilt is made of wool with a cotton sateen backing. Condition is excellent. Measurements are 37" x 38"; made circa 1900. The border is an olive green/ brown color.

Very fine Straight Furrows Log Cabin Doll quilt from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Wonderful scale; machine quilted. Interesting construction of border with one strip of the dark fabric used as a straight border and a wider one with a ruffle. Green areas consist of 7 different calico prints; pink is one calico and one solid. Mended area on outer border about the size of a quarter is shown in thumbnail photo. Crudely repaired but could be re-done by one with nimble fingers...

This is an elegant version of an Album Patch (aka Chimney Sweep) quilt done in a glorious grouping of fabrics from the second quarter of the 19th century. The binding is a hand loomed tape. The center is signed with the name Martha Harper. She was from Yardley, Pennsylvania; born in 1807. The fabric used for the diagonal sashing and border looks to be pieced but is actually one blue and brown printed material. The quilt is in excellent condition...

A rectangular French woolen shawl made on a Jacquard's loom, dating to the mid 1800's. Woven with a small black center surrounded by large botehs and volutes, the short sides with Harlequin borders and fringes. One long side with a later fabric tape.
