This sweet little brown and red doll quilt is in exellent condition with just a little fraying on one edge...see close up. I like to see signs of age like this because it shows it really old. When fabric has been folded and washed and ironed the folds start breaking down the fabric, sometimes aging is a good thing. The quilt is 6" square and is backed with a double pink calico.
This broderie perse album quilt has an unusually large number of blocks totaling 156. The chintz cutouts depict flowers; wreaths; baskets and birds, Written in ink is the date 1843 and Trenton, N.J. It has names from the Vallette; McNeely; Aiken and Coleman families.
The quilt is in excellent, unwashed condition with the glaze fully intact. It measures 103" x 110".
Best of all is the tag pinned to the quilt saying it was from the collection of Florence Peto. Mrs...
This is what I call a down home or servicable antique pot holder. It looks like a odd apple with a tummy sash. It is sewn nicely but with a childish feeling to it. I am sure it was used but care was taken with it. The loop at the top looks original. It is a very nice naive pot holder from the 1840's. It is 4" by 5". I love seeing these hung.
This classic Ocean Waves quilt is enhanced with a sawtooth border. It's interesting to note that the triangles making up the border are actually the same pieces as used throughout the body of the quilt. They have quite a different look when seen in a different context.
It is well quilted with floral wreaths in the off blocks and arcs in the border. Condition is excellent. Measurements are 66" x 84". Pennsylvania origin; circa 1880.

Striking Light and Dark Diamonds quilt with a beautiful use of fabrics and rich color. In addition to the outlines of the diamonds, the inside creates an Hourglass pattern. The two unusual fabrics on the border are a great enclosure for the diamonds. The quilt is especially well pieced.

Nineteenth century stencilled quilts are true rarities. To find one made in the early 20th century is virtually unheard of.This amazing example is even more unusual for the fact that it is also an album quilt.
It was made in Pennsylvania; circa 1920 during the Colonial Revival period. The soft tones reflect the popularity of light, pastel colors in decorating schemes of the era...
New York Beauty is always a dynamic quilt pattern and this is no exception. The bold red dominates while the soft green and orange are good back ups. The green has faded from a darker version but still holds its own.
This is a difficult pattern to execute and the maker did a fine job creating needlelike points on the numerous triangles.
The quilt is from Kentucky where for some unknown reason, many New York Beauties originated.
Measurements are 65" x 84"; made circa 1920; excellent condition.
Antique Silk Tabriz Prayer Rug, Northwest Persia. A high quality pictorial and directional design. This rug is a unique interpretation of the traditional symmetrical columnar niche format depicting a waq-waq tree, a Persian oracular tree whose branches bear fruit with the heads of men and mythical animals. The rug is intricately complete with a variety of flora, creatures, humans, camels, birds, fish and dragons all on a copper colored field and a dark blue sky...

It's not often that one sees a Lone Star (aka Star of Bethlehem or Texas Star) quilt in a crib size. This fine example is done with perfectly Pennsylvania colors. Four different calico prints are well combined with a fifth one for the backing.

To the best of my knowledge, this quilt pattern of crossed leaves is an original design. Barbara Brackman illustrated a similar one in her Encyclopedia of Applique (item 23.7) that was seen on an album quilt dated 1846 but I do not know of others.
This quilt is made with exquisite workmanship. All of the applique, including the border are stuffed. While it looks like both are solid colors, on close examination one sees a tiny print in the teal fabric...

Finely pieced Feathered Stars quilt done entirely in a mid 19th century printed dress fabric that "reads" as marigold. It has a wonderful sunshiny glow to the color. It is well quilted with half inch squares throughout.

This Maple Leaf quilt (or is it a Peony?) is beautifully made and has an exceptional botanical border. The appliques on the border depict a variety of flowers and fruits that are stuffed and/or ruched.
Never before have I seen one done this way. The sawtooth border is a good continuation of the geometry of the Maple Leaves. It is quilted with double squares on point.
The quilt has been professionally laundered and is in excellent condition. There is ever so slight abrasion to parts of the bind...
