This small purse is an absolute gem. The extremely fine designs – a bird on the front and a group of roses on the back – are worked in tiny petit point stitches in vivid colors. The bird has a blue head, red breast and brown wings and sits on a branch loads with blossoms. The roses are white, pink and red, and beautifully shaded. The body is constructed of very fine taupe netting...
Fabulous homespun black wool blanket with the best bittersweet color stripes at both ends. It is very soft and in very good condition but not mint. It has a later hand sewn edge on one end that is coming loose in a couple of places and there are a few small thin areas. It is 68" by 60" and it makes quite a statement. It is not as early as the center seam blankets but it makes up for it in looks.
How often do you see a flame stitch mat? This one still has vibrant color. The foundation is a loomed homespun. It has a spider web fringe that is so fine and beautiful. I have taken pictures of the 3 areas of with condition problems. There are two small holes and one larger one. The fringe also is sparse in many areas around the mat. That said this is a rare form of flame stitch and is paper thin and very finely woven. It is mid 1700's and is 6" by 11".
Early 19th century drawstring purse, finely knitted in silk and silver thread and featuring a delicate paisley design. Silk covered decorative balls; twist thread drawstring. Excellent condition. Measures 4 1/2” by 3”.
This tiny handsewn patch work quilt has just on square that has a little hole. One of the long sides the edge has a bit out of it, maybe it caught on something. The sewing is somewhat unskilled and appears to have been a labor of love rather than perfection. It has a lot of charm and nice enough to be uses on a doll bed or hung on a wall. The fabric backing the quilt is very fragile and fraying but it is nice that it doesn't affect the front...
Two antique pieces of blue and white fabric. The top one is homespun and is the top to a feather tick. It has been washed so many times that it is very thin and soft and is seamed down the middle. This piece is 56" by 67" and it is $185.00
The second piece is blue and white cotton and some people would call it homespun but I believe it is early mill work. It is a full tick so it has a back and a front both are blue and white and it has lots of patches of varying ages...
1830-40 velvet reticule theorem purse In nice condition with some age darkening. It is all hand sewn, lined with fine homespun linen. No rips or tears but there is loss of most of the ribbon trim around the outside edges. It is 8 1/2" top to bottom and 8" across at the widest point.
Beautiful early 19th century miser purse, crocheted in silk thread. Colors include green red, pink, black, gold and white. Gilt terminals and sliders. Very good condition -- a few loose threads. Measures 13 1/2".
This is what I call a down home or servicable antique pot holder. It looks like a odd apple with a tummy sash. It is sewn nicely but with a childish feeling to it. I am sure it was used but care was taken with it. The loop at the top looks original. It is a very nice naive pot holder from the 1840's. It is 4" by 5". I love seeing these hung.
Antique micro beaded purse, featuring a beautiful oriental rug pattern, with tribal influences. The central black medallion features designs in green, gold and brick red. The medallion is surrounded by a white field depicting flowers and vines in blue, yellow, and brown. Finally, there is a vibrant saw tooth border in green, black and yellow. Mustard yellow cotton lining; drawstring closure. Probably had a fringe at one time. Very good condition; just a bead missing here and there...
Very heavy hand loomed American blanket is a great brown and cream wool. It has a center seam, is nice and clean but it is not without condition problems. It has a few areas of a red staining looks like berry stains. It also has holes not from moths as much as from being caught on bed springs. It is 70" by 90" and is very heavy and rich with color. Circa 1840 On sale was $345.
Antique flannel dog filled with grain or sawdust that makes him feel like a bean bag and allows him to stand nicely. He has big bead eyes and replaced floppy ears. The original ears must have been further back where you see a white patch. That patch is white flannel that hasn't gotten dirty. He has a couple of mends but is old and nice and has a bit of a worried look. He is 7 1/2" long and 6" tall. (His ears are a wool knit fabric that looks like they have been there for a while.) Hi is 19th C...
