Someone with a sense of humor gave this dear old flannel sheep blue floss eyes and brown eye lashes all the way around. She is big, 10" long including his tail and 6" tall even with her legs askew. Poor design or bad eating habits preventing her from standing on all fours. She has a great smile on her face and floppy ears with finishing stitches around the edges. She is a very sweet old gently played with late 19th C. toy lamb.

Were it not for the trapezoidal shape of this Grandmother's Flower Garden, one would mistake it for a doll quilt rather than the chair pad it is. Hexagons are appliqued to the backing. Wool; two small breaks in the fabric show the paper foundations of the hexagons. Beautiful colors are well planned and create a "fence" around the flower gardens. Pennsylvania Mennonite; circa 1900. Measures 16" x 17 3/4" at its largest.

It is not often that I get a nice quilted pillow case never mind that it has brown and blue calico fabric. It is all hand sewn and the fabrics are 1870's. It is a size that fits regular bed pillow. I used a fairly large puffy pillow and it still worked well. There are a few penny sized spots that have started to fray a little but it would be fine on a guest bed or stuck in a comfy easy chair. It is 22" by 15". (Bed pillow doesn't come with it.)

This charming One Patch Doll Quilt was either the practice piece of a child or the work of a mother whose good intentions exceeded her skill. I believe it was meant to be a One Patch with all equal squares. Overall, it does "read" like a checkerboard pattern but in fact, some of the blue striped blocks are elongated rectangles (one in a different direction than the others) and some of the red blocks are narrowed. It is hand quilted in brown thread. Measures 16 1/2" square...

How often do you see a flame stitch mat? This one still has vibrant color. The foundation is a loomed homespun. It has a spider web fringe that is so fine and beautiful. I have taken pictures of the 3 areas of with condition problems. There are two small holes and one larger one. The fringe also is sparse in many areas around the mat. That said this is a rare form of flame stitch and is paper thin and very finely woven. It is mid 1700's and is 6" by 11".

Fabulous homespun black wool blanket with the best bittersweet color stripes at both ends. It is very soft and in very good condition but not mint. It has a later hand sewn edge on one end that is coming loose in a couple of places and there are a few small thin areas. It is 68" by 60" and it makes quite a statement. It is not as early as the center seam blankets but it makes up for it in looks.

This small purse is an absolute gem. The extremely fine designs – a bird on the front and a group of roses on the back – are worked in tiny petit point stitches in vivid colors. The bird has a blue head, red breast and brown wings and sits on a branch loads with blossoms. The roses are white, pink and red, and beautifully shaded. The body is constructed of very fine taupe netting...

This reversible doll quilt has a One Patch pattern on both sides. The side with smaller squares has a triangle border on one end to indicate that it was meant for the head. There is some staining in one of the border triangles but no other condition mentionables. Each piece is outlined with pale yellow embroidery. The reverse side is made up of larger squares (approximately 2 1/2" to a side). The embroidery from the reverse is visible in a pattern of squares within the pieced blocks...

Nine Patch Doll Quilt done in a soft, creamy pink. Excellent condition. What may appear to be slight discoloration is actually the use of two different white fabrics. Machine quilted; measures 19 1/2" x 24". Pennsylvania origin; circa 1920.

Very nice poplar Shaker bonnet with a label marking the size as a 5. They were also made in size #6 and size #7. The bonnets were sold by the Shakers in their gift shops but they were not made by the Shakers. This one is in very good condition. It does have a few brown stains at the top of the brim edge, see photo. This is just about as good as you can get for this type of Shaker bonnet.

This is a very beautiful doll quilt all hand sewn and quilted with just the best very early calico and chintz fabric from 1820-30's. It looks fabulous hung or on a doll bed or used as a table mat. It is a wonderful study of early fabrics. It looks like it was made into a doll quilt in 1870-80's by the little red calico print fabric used at the top edge. The back is the original back and is early chintz blue green fabric. It is 18 1/2" by 15".

Two antique pieces of blue and white fabric. The top one is homespun and is the top to a feather tick. It has been washed so many times that it is very thin and soft and is seamed down the middle. This piece is 56" by 67" and it is $185.00 The second piece is blue and white cotton and some people would call it homespun but I believe it is early mill work. It is a full tick so it has a back and a front both are blue and white and it has lots of patches of varying ages...

This tiny handsewn patch work quilt has just on square that has a little hole. One of the long sides the edge has a bit out of it, maybe it caught on something. The sewing is somewhat unskilled and appears to have been a labor of love rather than perfection. It has a lot of charm and nice enough to be uses on a doll bed or hung on a wall. The fabric backing the quilt is very fragile and fraying but it is nice that it doesn't affect the front...
