To the best of my knowledge, this is a unique pattern. The bars are an unusual variation of Tree Everlasting and combined with the Crossed Tulips, I believe it to be one of a kind. The use of solid colors further sets off the wonderful center. Excellent condition; has been professionally washed. Measures 87" x 97"; circa 1870. Pennsylvania origin.

Lovely 18th century “hairwork” silk embroidered picture, depicting a man with a donkey and dog walking along a riverfront. There are two boats on the river and, on the far bank, two grand houses surrounded by formal parks. The picture is worked in black silks on an ivory silk faille ground. It’s called a “hairwork” because it resembles hair embroideries and may incorporate hair in its composition. Set in an oval gilt and wood frame measuring 6 ½” by 8 ¼”. Unglazed...

This bold Barnraising Log Cabin is made of wool challis from the 1870's. It reverses to a cotton calico One Patch. Dazzling use of stripes in the center. Some damage to the wools, much of which is visible in a close-up. It does not detract from the overall dramatic impact of the quilt. Measures 68" x 87"; Pennsylvania origin.

Chinese Coins is a pattern not often seen, even more rarely when done on a diagonal as is this example. The blocks are fairly large but create a stunning effect whether used either vertically or horizontally. This would make a spectacular hanging in a stairwell or over a sofa because of the 54" x 76" size. All wool fabrics; Circa 1910. Lancaster County, Pennsylvania Mennonite.

This is a classic Fans pattern, well made in nearly all solid color wools. Unusual background color of slate blue/gray. (The photos show the colors as more blue than in reality.) Very slight fading throughout the border with one area of subtle discoloration visible in overall photo. Circa 1890; Pennsylvania Mennonite. Measures 68" square.
