This is the upper part of a kamishimo; samurai's formal attire without the trousers. It was worn over a kosode (kimono with small sleeves) with trousers. The texture is hemp like; coarse, slightly translucent, thick threads (thicker than other kamishimo). The family crest is the feathers of a hawk. Kami-shimo (upper-lower) that we currently have are quite dandy and fashionable. The amazing thing is the work that is involved when making these fabrics...

This porcelain butterfly was produced in Thuringia, Germany by the Schwarza-Saalbahn factory around 1900. Similar porcelain objects have been produced by Karl Ens of Volkstedt. The butterfly is 6 inches wide and 2 1/2 inches high. It is made of hard paste porcelain and is decorated with brightly colored high glazed enamels. There is raised enamel beading and gilded accents. It is an unusual object of beauty. Condition: Excellent

This porcelain vase was produced in Germany by Sontag & Sohne, Tettau, around 1900. It is 7 1/2 inches long at the base, 3 ¾ inches deep and 5 3/4 inches high. The shape and decoration are in the art nouveau style. There is a scene of a Jacobean couple accompanied by a blackamoor and a whippet. It is done in fine hand enameling. This set of 6 plates was produced in England by Royal Doulton in the late 19th century. They are signed by the artist, Joseph Hancock. They measure 8 7/8 inches in diameter. They are made of excellent quality bone china. The rims are scalloped. Each plate has a bird, hand painted with fine detail in its natural habitat. No white shows through. A lovely pair of imperial Russian spoons, the backs of the bowls decorated with finely engraved scenes depicting portions of the Arsenal and the State Historical Museum on Moscow’s Red Square. The handles are finished in the traditional twist motif. The surfaces are gilt, and the engraving is worked through the gilding in some areas and more lightly in others, allowing a nice contrast of colors within the design...

This set of 6 plates was produced in Germany by Nymphenburg in the late 19th century. They have a diameter of 8 1/2 inches. The plates have rococo style reticulated borders. Tiffany and Company sterling silver large stuffing serving spoon with family crest. Size: 12.25" long. Circa 1902-1907 (Charles Cook's directorship). Stamped with pseudo hallmarks as well as with the Tiffany & Co. sterling stamp. Excellent condition, with only some superficial scratches.

This is one of a pair of wooden (not papier mache) footed plates made for export. The central medallion Japanese scene is classic and the rim has ornate panels with animals and plants. Each side has handle shaped and painted as an ivy leaf.

A fine 19th century 6-1/2" Stourbridge-style milk glass vase with amber glass applied leaves and feet plus red cherries. The milk glass has nice orange fire when held to the light, and the leaves, feet and cherries are well formed. It is unsigned, and it in excellent original condition with no chips, cracks, damage or repairs other than the loss of part of the amber glass stem on one cherry (see picture)...

English Tunbridgeware work/sewing/jewelry box in walnut veneer, decorated with two bands of chevron inlay of various exotic woods and with two hexagonal mother-of-pearl escutcheons. Circa 1880-1900. The interior is lined with paper and fabric, and there is a fitted lift-out tray. Condition: age crack to rear top of lid, several older veneer patches at corners, replaced hinges, faint scratching of a name on cover. All decorative inlay is intact. Dimensions: 9.75" long x 6.75" deep x 5"high.

This porcelain perfume bottle with stopper was produced in France in the mid 19th century. It has some impressed letters and numbers but they are not legible. The style of the gilding and the lady’s dress are typical of the mid 19th century and so this would be considered “Paris Porcelain.” It is similar to porcelain produced by Sevres. This porcelain pot de crème was produced in Austria at the Royal Vienna Factory before 1820. It has an under glaze blue bee hive mark as well as impressed numbers. It is 3 1/4 inches high including the lid. The finial on the lid is in the shape of a flame. It is decorated with hand painted grape leaves that encircle the lid and the cup. The style of the handle and painting are quite similar to Meissen porcelains. There is gold trim on the lid, cup and handle. Condition: Excellent ...

This three piece demitasse cup, saucer and plate was produced in Germany by Meissen before 1920. The plate has a diameter of 7 inches, the saucer is 4 1/4 inches, and the cup is 2 inches high. The cup has a split twig handle. All of the pieces have little pointed edges. It is decorated with tiny scattered flowers. They are brightly colored. All of the pieces are trimmed in gold. Condition: Excellent. This is first quality Meissen porcelain.
