Lignum vitae seal box with screw thread, complete with lacquer seal and – most unusual – the corresponding agate intaglio ringstone with a family crest. Georgian, c 1810-20, with the seal engraver’s label, H. Lowe of Lambs Conduit, London. Diameter "1¼ / 3.3 cm. Condition: a dent to the border of the lid (the screw thread still works).

An 18th century cashier’s fob seal / stamp, made of steel with an engraved beehive surrounded by keys. This pictograph tells you to keep your fingers away: in the emblem books of the time the beehive used to be accompanied by a Latin sentence meaning “not for you”. A large lacquered papier maché table snuff box made in Braunschweig (Brunswick), Germany. The lid with a portrait of an old man, a prophet. Early 19th century, probably by Stockmann, unsigned. Diameter "4½/ 11 cm, height "1½/ 4 cm. Condition: a chip to the inner rim of the box, as seen on photo.

Pair American 19th Century Empire period Brass Andirons, Ca. 1820-1840's, 19 1/2" high, 18" deep, Brass front and Wrought Iron back for log holder, raised scroll base with double feet on each side. A pair of black papier mache wine bottle coasters, each beautifully hand painted with a colorful bird within a red and gilt cartouche. The form is quite rare, with more common versions made of silver or silver plate. Because of the date, and the quality exhibited in these, it is quite probable that they were made by Jennens and Bettridge (fl. 1815-1864), the English firm most respected for this type work.

The coasters are 6 1/4" in diameter and 1/2" in depth...

A very rare and important teak Temple chest with beautiful gold leaf relief design of Buddha with his adoring subjects. Age: 18th century. Size: L. 77cm. W. 40cm. H. 46.2cm. Condition: No repairs. Some small loss of the gold leaf which is common for the age.

An antique 18th Century Pennsyivania wainut tilt top candle stand. The stand has a circular dish top which is hinged. When the top is tilted up it reveals a revolving bird cage feature which consists of four bobbin style spindles. The table top is supported by a hand turned solid walnut vasiform standard Beneath this are two graduated circular disks. The table stands on three cabriole legs which terminate in slippered snake feet...

A Scottish wood travelling tobacco or pipe box, wonderfully and fulsomely decorated with penwork. The scene on the top shows two older men arguing or bargaining, in front of what appear to be farm buildings. Under this is "And test Me nhow auld boy" followed by the initials HC. The sides and bottom of the box are decorated with finely drawn rows of leaves...

The graphic impact of this blanket box with paint decoration is absolutely stunning. It is swirl decorated in black over a yellowish-putty color, and virtually all the paint is intact. Adding to the special nature of this piece is its dainty size, measuring 31 inches long by 15 1/4 inches deep by 13 1/2 inches tall.
