This is an elegantly simple Armchair made by the second half of the 19th century during the Renaissance revival period following the Napoleon III era. This adorable piece consists of a rectangular caned back highlighted by an acanthus shaped crest centering the classical shell, standing upon the wide and almost triangular seat flanked by nicely scrolled armrests, all supported by lovely turned legs connected by an H-shaped stretcher. A stunning Gold Leaf wood fragment from the South of France dating back to the early 1800's!!! Mounting on an old iron spike, which together stands to a height of 20 1/4" tall.
