An antique Japanese Tansu chest called a Gyosho Bako (peddler's chest) made of Sugi (Cryptomeria) wood. All original hand forged iron hardware. Two pairs of rings on each side used to rope the Tansu to carry on ones back for peddling wares from town to town. The front hinged door secures 7 drawers used for inventory storage.

A pair of hinged doors open to a set of Kimono and accoutrement drawers. Hardened wooden nail construction. Optional iron stand can be added for additional height.

A beautiful mahogany shaped knife box made of solid sides and fitted with slotted board to hold knives. The cyma and creased shaped front supports a non-working brass lock escutcheon and opening handle. The corners are molded. The cover is decorated with a star inside, and attached with brass hinges. The base of the box is also molded. Over all, the design and construction are sumptuous.

This fascinating tobacco box dates back to the late 19th century and originates from Imperial Russia. The box is made of papier-mache, a material that was widely used in Russia during that time period. What makes this box truly exceptional is the intricate hand-painted design on its hinged lid.

Japanese cigarette case / tobacco box, lacquer on copper with mother of pearl inlay of flowers and birds to both sides. Made in Nagasaki and exported to Europe, where it was given as a Christmas present in 1867 - dedication and date engraved to the inside of the box lid. Measures: 6 " / 15.2 x 3 " / 7.3 cm, height 2/3 ” / 1.7 cm. Condition: the lid with cracks and some loss to the lacquer.

Antique French Art Deco pedestal desk. Made of hardwood with dramatically striated grain. The desk top has a large, white rectangular writing surface and two drawers. A Fine English George II walnut chest on chest. Bookmatched, figured walnut veneered drawer facings. The top case with moulded cornice and with stop-reeded, canted corners terminating in lamb's tongue at bottom, below stops. The pulls matching with original positions. This rich carved Austrian rural style armoire comes from the Pinzgau valley near Salzburg. He is made in the Renaissance style, but he dates later at about 1740. Softwood ( pine needle wood ) Very nice restored condition. H : 72,5 inc. B : 48,5 inc. Deep : 22,5 inc.

This is a Austrian rural style chest, a so called carved " Bauerntruhe " from Styria. Softwood ( pine needle wood ) This piece from about 1750 originaly was only to open from upwards. To make this nice piece more useable for everydays use, there recentely was made 2 doors into the front side of the chest. These 2 doors are not visible, when they are closed. As is all coffee tables of this type, this lovely marble turtle top table has been cut down to make coffee table height. It measures 21" tall x 36" wide x 26" deep and is in lovely condition.
