An olive wood box, the lid decorated with an oval panel depicting an Italian couple, in the marquetry work typical of Sorrento. Late 19th c or around 1900. On the front is written Bellagio, meaning that the box was sold in this lovely resort by Lake Como as a souvenir. Width "8½/ 22 cm, height "2¾/ 7 cm and depth "6/15,5 cm. Condition: fine, except for the small key which is best left unturned, since it is difficult to maneuvre.
Fine old lacquerware antique, cylindrical box, possibly Karen or Shan, from North Thailand, with rattan bindings, these are becoming increasing difficult to find these days. Some loss of lacquer on the surface. H: 15cm/5.8in and D: 7.3cm/2.8in.

C. 1880 Hand carved Wood Box Engraved mother of pearl box measures just over 2 inches square. The top slides cleanly off the base to uncover beautiul mother of pearl "puzzle pieces", probably intended as a game whereby one must get the pieces back in the same order. A true survivor. This is a 6-3/4" x 5" double well papier-mache tea caddy with ornate decoration with a porcelain miniature c1850-60. This attractive tea caddy stands 4-1/4" high and the hinged lid lifts to reveal the twin compartments, whose lids have hand carved and decorated mother-of-pearl grips. The wells have a gray painted lining. It has conical decorated gilt brass feet and ornate hand painted polychrome and gold decoration on the lid, base and front panel...
