This is a charming American cornice or mantle piece in old, original, grayish greenish blue paint. Both an architectural element, and extremely useful, the top section is convex molded, and each section steps down from the one above, with two rows of egg and dart motif separating the sections.

This is a 2 section antique Japanese stacking chest called Kasane Kiri Isho Tansu.The dimensions are 39.75 inches tall , 37 inches wide and 16.75 inches deep It is made of Kiri (Paulownia) wood.The hinged door on the bottom right opens to reveal 2 additional drawers hidden from view. As if this wasn't enough, the tansu maker added one additional secret box to the piece. The age of this tansu is circa 1880 to 1890 from the mid Meiji era.

Federal Mahogany swell front chest of drawers. Yellow pine and poplar secondary woods. Maryland, probably Baltimore, 1790 to 1810. This chest is similar in ways to an example in "Furniture in Maryland, 1740-1940", Weidman, 1984, item #77, page 123. On both, the top conforms to the bow front case, projecting a bit beyond the case. And both have nicely formed French feet, inlaid banding on the drawers and above the skirt, and inlaid chevrons centering the escutcheons...
