Longyan wood is grown in Fujian in the South of China and is used for making furniture, etc. This is a substantial altar table. It has everted flanges at each end. The table is in quite good condition for its age. In some places there are noticeable defects which have not been repaired. Such repair can be done well in Beijing. The carving is strong and good. The top of the table is of one piece of wood. We believe one base of the table may be a bit newer than the rest of the table...

The best Victorian bed we've ever had or seen, this half tester American bed, circa 1860, is absolutely beautiful. It measures 10 feet tall, 83 inches long and 68 inches wide. It takes a queen size mattress. Its in all original condition with the exception of the top having been recovered. Probably made in New York by Prudent Mallard.

Rare Chester County Pennsylvania Spice Chest in walnut having a moulded cornice above a raised panel door opening to an arrangement of ten small drawers (one replaced) and raised on straight bracket feet. Secondary woods include: poplar, oak, walnut and beech. There is a faint inscription on one of the bottom drawers. Pennsylvania, circa 1760-80.

A pair of cast iron garden urns in the campagna style with attached metal decorative collar of alternating pairs of bunches of grapes and grape leaves. Each is cast as 1 piece on a shallow (2.5") plinth. These are quite rare; probably ca 1880. They have a wonderful reddish sun-dried patina as befits their origins in Texas. Each piece is 32" high and 24" in diameter. No apparent flaws.

Pair of large garden urns from the J L Mott Foundry NY ca 1870 in the Morning Glory pattern. The Smithsonian owns several of a variant on these it has used in the Edith Haupt Garden on the Mall. Bowl sides have highly decorative fluting ending in a protruding bottom faced with morning glory blooms, the decorative stems extending beneath. Each is 34" high, bowl diameter is 29"; base is 15" square. Stripped, rust-proofed and re-painted. In very good condition.
