Exceptional George III Serpentine Chest of Drawers or Commode in the French Manner having a moulded edge serpentine top with overhanging sides above two over three conforming drawers, rounded front corners and bold bracket feet. The drawer sides and bottoms are mahogany which is unusual since it was the most expensive wood during the 18th Century. Brass pulls may be original, escutcheons replaced.

An antique Chinese scholar's stand made of natural gnarled twisted hardwood roots with a transparent russet lacquer. This type of natural root furniture goes back to the 12th century aesthetic. An antique Chinese wardrobe cabinet made entirely of Jumu wood. Large circular nickel/brass plate door hardware representing a coin which symbolizes wealth and prosperity. It was originally commissioned and made for part of a woman's wedding dowry. Two large doors open to reveal a spacious storage area with a removable shelf which can adjust to two levels. Below the doors are three drawers with looped handles and a hand carved foliated apron.

Swirling free standing bronze dragon reaching upward supporting a golden rutilated quartz energy ball. Three claws on each of the four feet. The dragon has an arching twisted body with an open mouth. Original patina with natural variation of bronze tones.
The Japanese see dragons as benefactors and protectors of mankind. Dragon tattoos symbolize bravery, wisdom, and strength. Overall in wonderful original condition.

Note: Martha Hyde is listed in the Massachusetts, Town and Vital Records, 1620-1988, as being born in Newton, Massachusetts May 14th, 1800.
