An antique Japanese Kotansu (personal storage chest) made of Kiri (Paulownia) and Sugi (Cryptomeria) woods. All original hand forged iron hardware and aged patina finish. Warabite style handles. Straight dovetail Japanese joinery and hardened wood nails were incorporated into its design. Five drawers with a hinged security door that behind hides two small drawers.

An antique Ming dynasty Chinese painting table made entirely Jumu wood. Upper surface has a floating panel with time honored wood shrinkage surrounded by a mitered corner frame. The front apron has a Lingzhi carved pattern. Four splayed legs with the Ming era square mitered detail as shown in the book Classic Chinese Furniture by Wang Shixiang. Beautiful antique Japanese choba tansu, merchant's storage chest, all original finish with keyaki (elm) wood panels on the front finished in a medium brown, sugi (cryptomeria) wood frame finished with a black lacquer, iron hardware, safe box with two small drawers on the inside, Edo Period (early 1800's). Size: 33 1/2" high x 36" wide (37 1/4" wide including side handles) x 15 1/2" deep.

An antique Tibetan storage cabinet that also doubled as a shrine. Decorated in painted lacquer with playful snow lions as the central motif. The skirt is decorated in a key fret design.

Antique Chinese guan pi xiang (document box), made of huanghuali. Top opens to a tray-shaped storage area. The doors are made with dramatic huanghauli wood burl panels and open to reveal 5 drawers (4 small drawers and 1 larger one).

An antique Tibetan storage trunk with hard mounts and a hand painted dragon that appears to be dancing holding sacred jewels in each claw. A magnified textile pattern surrounds the dragon design. Hinged cover opens to a spacious storage area. Natural wear and marks on the cover over its long history of use.

Chinese antique ox bow arm chair, made of jumu (elm) wood with bent wood legs. The back splat is carved with a round good fortune symbol.

An antique Japanese Okidoko (low display stand) made of Keyaki (Zelkova) wood. Used in a Tokonoma as a portable display stand atop which decorations like scrolls were hung or flower arrangements were displayed. Drawers were used to store items for display and the interior shelves were used to display seasonal items. All original bronze hardware.

This is a pair of antique Chinese official hat chairs. Made of Chinese Elm wood, it was decorated with hand carved Linghi mushroom accents. The finish has traces of transparent Burgandy lacquer.

Chinese ivory toggle finely carved in the shape of a fingered lemon or "Buddha's hand" with foliage and mushroom. H 7cm (2 3/4in). Late 18th century.

Rare and Beautiful late Edo period (circa 1850's) small bar tansu from Tohoki area in Japan. Made of keyaki Hardwood with Stunning original glowing finish, accented by round black iron handles with locking bar. Includes hand forged iron stand that supports and floats the piece off the ground. Great original condition. Measures 24" high x 18.5" wide x 14.5" deep.

An antique Chinese skinny bench made entirely of Elm wood. Having acquired an antique patina over the years of weathering and loving use, it is sturdy and ready for its next century of function.

Contemporary uses include placement at the end of a bed, behind a sofa or in an entryway for ease of removing ones shoes before entering a home.
