Small antique Japanese lacquer zushi (personal shrine) with tiny carved wooden bodhisattva inside. The standing figure inside is painted black and gold. The exterior of the zushi is lacquered black and the inside is painted a deep green with delicate gold details. Tiny copper hardware.

Late 18th to early 19th century netsuke of a Chinese scholar with a boy attendant standing by a huge wine jar. Most probably the scholar is Rihaku (Li Po in Chinese) - a celebrated, probably the most famous poet of China, equally renown for his love of wine. Beautiful carving, wonderful faces and detailing of their clothes, expertly incised different textile patterns. Light staining, excellent patina. Height 1 7/16 inches.

Late 19th century netsuke of a kneeling geisha holding a box with sliding cover in front of her while a little boy standing behind her points at it, and she raises her free hand to her mouth in pretend embarrassment. The box must have originally contained some implements of sex trade, now lost. Wonderful detailed carving, heads, box and hands are inlaid and box is decorated with lacquer flowers (some obvious wear)...
