An unusually artful large stone head of a man with barred teeth, Dominican republic, Taino culture, Early Taino, ca. 1000 to 1300 AD.

The sculptural head highly unusual with very interesting features incl. what looks very much like glasses or a mask over the eyes. Barred teeth and a very broad flat nose. A piece of sculptural art worthy of any collection of Pre-Columbian art as well as other collections of beautiful sculptures.

Very unique translucent Spondylus shell human carving which is red/cream-colored found in the coastal area of Peru. 1 3/8" by 3/4". Collected in the 1950s by L. L. Dees. From the Len Weidner Collection. This is one of the largest and finest collections in the country. Len and his wife, Janie, publish the 'Who's Who in Indian Relics' 11 volume set. This unique Mayan translucent jadeite tube pipe is simply astounding and extremely detailed. The earliest mesoamerican pipes were tube pipes and date back to 1500BC. The material being smoked was inserted into the mouth of the serpent and inhaled from the other side. It could have had a perishable stem such as bone or wood. It was probably worn as a pendant until smoked. This is a particularly unique interpretation and rendition of a coiled snake...

This is an extremely rare, unique IMPORTANT Olmec quartz engraved plaque. I have only seen a handful of authentic Olmec quartz pieces in my 40 years of collecting. This pre-Columbian Chancay bone flute is from the central coast area of Peru, 800AD-1200AD. It is 6" long and has four holes on the top and one on the bottom. The knuckle is carved with a very nice frog and two serpents/snakes along the sides. It is in beautiful, solid condition with superb patina. A real no-brainer. I purchased it on October 12, 1989 from HD Enterprises.

This beautiful bone weaving tool is from the central coast area of Peru. It is from the Chancay culture. 800AD-1200AD. It has a carved pelican and jaguar on the knuckle. It is 6 3/4" long and has nice polish. It is a no-brainer. I purchased it from HD Enterprises on October 12, 1989.

A pair of stunning rare Precolumbian stone tools or carving, Taino Culture, Hispaniola, pre 15th. century AD.

Interesting lot of two grey stone artifacts; one a rectangular stone tool with rounded corners and sides, verysymethric carving in a vulcanic hard stone, possibly a pestle, 10 cm. long and 8 cm. wide and 6,5 cm. thick, so quite massive. The other other an interesting granite looking stone shaped in human form or mummyform, 11,3 cm...

Lot conisists of two large celts or axes, a drop-shape piece in grey stone, lightly rough and a triangular axe in green stone, finely polished, 1st. millenium BC.

Sizes: The grey axe 14,5 cm., the green one 12,7 cm.

Condition: Choice, a few minor chips, very nice patinas.

Provenance: From an important German collection of Hermann Hemeick. The collection of 71 stone objects was collected on trips to the Dominican Republic between 1960 and 1984...

Scarce pottery vase, Pre-Columbian Culture of Guanacaste, 1000 - 1500 A.D.

A fine little vase with incredible vivid colours, trompetshaped with footring. Tagged with black ink 'Cazhaldma' in the bottom, possible a finding place.

Size: 10 cm.

Condition: Choice, few minor nicks to the rim.

A rare representation of an Opussum on a stirrup pottery vessel, Pre-columbian, Vicús Culture 100 BC. - 300 AD.

Very attractive sculpturing in redish clay.

Length: 22 cm.

Condition: Choice for type and culture, a long hairline repaired crack through the vessel, othervise intact in all it's parts. Vicüs vessels are usually always cracked and this an honest piece that could be restored so that this crack is not visible with little effort.

A white-slipped terracotta bowl with a rounded base, curved walls, a deep interior cavity, and a thin rim.

It features a nice geomethric decoration in a rich brown hue.

Size: 12,5 cm. in diameter and ca. 7-8 cm. tall.

Condition: Nice and intact, small pinhole in the wall and a blemmage in the bottom, perhaps oil or residue from former mounting?
