This type of bronze weapon is generally designated as a short sword. It has a substantial midrib with tapering edges. The edges are concave in the upper part and gracefully draw into spikes or wings that extend around either side of the tang. Weapons of this type are found in Northwestern Iran and most likely date to around the 9th century BC. “Weapons of this type [are] widely represented in the Ghaletenti I cemetery in Dailiman.” (“Arms and Armor from Iran” by Manouchehr M...

This is an ancient bronze short sword from Northwestern Iran. It has a choice, predominantly blue patina mottled with green and red. The lower half of the hilt is basically ovoid in hape with a lappet-flanged area on both broad surfaces. Flanged areas often held inlays of wood or bone but a lappet flange of this type was probably a decoration in and of itself. The upper half of the hilt is also ovoid but with the broad surfaces oriented perpendicular to the lower half...

This is a very nice bronze dagger or spear blade from the ancient near East - probably from Northern Iran circa 1200 BC or earlier. It has a thin, flat blade with a reinforced midrib. It has a perforation in the tang which is covered by the patina. It also has some slight bending in the blade which is why I have listed it for such a low price. It does not appear to be damaged or repaired in any other way. It measures roughly 23 cm in length and weighs 84 grams.

This one is gone too!
This item is a very rare bronze crossbow mechanism from my personal collection. It weighs 297 grams and measures just over 12 cm in length. There are two features that make this piece a must for your collection. The first is that it has a decorative inlay that I believe is silver but I have not cleaned or treated it in any way to be certain. The second incredible feature is that the original pins for this piece were constructed of iron - not of bronze...

This is a decorated bronze axle hub pin from the Warring States period in ancient China (circa 475 BC). This pin weighs 80 grams and measures just over 8 cm in length. It was recovered from the same site as the decorated axle hub that I have listed (item # 732555) Since it does not quite fit that axle hub, I am selling the two pieces separately. The size and type of this pin are consistent with what would have been used on the listed hub and they would look great displayed together...

However, to our knowledge no such items have ever been found associated with crossbow bolts. These particular pieces went over the ends of the wooden ribs in large parasols. The protruding hooks put tension on the strings or straps that were attached to the skin of the parasol.
