An interesting scarab carved and polished in steatite stone, probably New Kingdom or earlier, 18th.-14th. cent. BC.

The somewhat stylized scarab finely carved in the base with an eye form.

A nicely engraved steatite stone scarab, Egypt New Kingdom, c. 1539–1075 BC.

Stylized with incised features such as the clypeus, prothorax and elytra marked by single lines. Decorated to the reverse with stylised geometric swirls and loop patterns. The amulet is pierced longitudinally for suspension.

A choice example of a of a large Wadj Sceptre in brown hardstone, with the stone aiming to imitate rolled papyrus.

The scroll is widest at the top, where there is a neck below the faux loop for suspension. The base tapers into a softened point. Such an amulet would have been for ritual buriel.

Size: c. 32 mm.

This is a lovely ancient Egyptian Scarab, 1200 BC, from the famous Mitry collection (see our Homepage). It is 5/8” long (16 mm) and made of steatite, an easy-to-carve stone that hardens when heated. Relics of the Nile is pleased to present this ancient Egyptian 3rd Intermediate Period upper ushabti fragment. This upper torso from an ushabti remains in excellent condition with striking color and detail. The facial features on this piece are in choice condition with excellent faience green color accented by painted features such as the "shesh" headcloth, sulk and hoe, and seed sack on the back. Vibrant colors of brown and faience green cover the piece...

An ancient Egyptian amulet of Shu, god of air and sunshine, c. 1250 BC, from the famous Mitry collection (see our Homepage). It is 1 5/16” tall (30 mm) and made of faience. Shu looks to his left and appears to have a side-knot (of hair) hanging down from the right side of his head. The side-knot is usually a sign that it's a prince, although some queens also wore one – for instance, Rameses II's queen Istnofret is depicted with one (Hans Schneider notes), as is her son, Crown Prince Khaemwas...
