Two-finger amulets were used for the dead and were often found on the lower left of the torso. This is the area of the incision that was made during the mummification process in order to remove the internal organs...

Faience shabti inscribed with six lines of horizontal text starting just below the crossed arms.
The spell reads: ‘The Governor of Upper Egypt, Anhh-Hor, he speaks, oh, this shabti’ and is followed by version VII-A of the shabti spell.
The inscription shows an exceptional orthography and archaic vocabulary reminiscent of the renaissance of ancient Egyptian culture at the beginning of the 26th Dynasty.

Relics of the Nile is pleased to present this fragmented, but still lovely Egyptian blue faience offering cup with cartouche. The back and part of the lower portion is missing, however the front containing the cartouche of the pharaoh is still intact. The cartouche is highlighted in black and appears to contain the cartouche of Amenhotep. The vessel measures 2" in height, plus the size of the base. Curiously, the epithet Osiris is noted here in retrograde writing in relation to the name.

Relics of the Nile is pleased to present this lot of 7 New Kingdom terra-cotta molds from Tell el-Amarna. Two molds have numbers on the bottom in black and red. The molds include a well defined rosette, a seated figure, scepter, collar element, figure of Bes, a scarab and an ankh. Each mold looks to have been used with remains of faience paste inside. The molds range in size from 7/8" to 1" in length. From a private collection in Massachusetts formed in the 1960s and 1970s...

A lovely ancient Egyptian Scarab, c. 1400 BC, from the famous Mitry collection (see our Homepage). It is 3/8” long (9 mm) and made of steatite, an easy-to-carve stone that hardens when heated. Scarabs empowered life and resurrection and were often placed under mummy wrappings to protect the body and to help it resurrect. This Scarab comes in a jewelry display cup.

Seated bronze cat with arched back and noble posture of the head. The tail curled around to the front. The small head with beady eyes and erect ears, mouth and nose engraved.
The cat features very long forelegs and a small chest, on which appears an incised necklace with a rudimentary Eye of Horus pendant.
Cats were the embodiment of Bastet, goddess of Bubastis and patroness of joy and women.

There is a bow drilled hole that runs through the center, and there is wear on the outer edges at each end of the hole. This may be due to the fact that a leather thong was attached through the central perforation, and could have produced wear to the outer edges of the hole at each end
