A lovely ancient Egyptian Scarab, more than 2,300 years old, from the famous Mitry collection (see our Homepage). It is X” long (X mm) and made of steatite, an easy-to-carve stone that hardens when heated. A rare and attractive early Egyptian vessel / beaker, dating to the Old Kingdom, 2649 - 2150 BC.

The conical beaker with a wide flat rim and craved in finely banded alabaster.

Size: 68 mm. tall. and 62 mm. wide over the rim.

Condition: Very fine for the very rare type, with small chip to the rim restored.

Ex. Old German collection, aquired 1960s-1970s.

Ancient egyptian faience shabti of Suensachmet 13cm.

New Kingdom Dynasty 19th

inscription: Wsjr Sw-n-Sxm.t "Osiris; Suensachmet".

The personal name of Suensachmet means "He belongs to goddess Sachmet".

This is an ancient bronze dagger from the middle east, possibly Egypt. The apparent high-copper content of the alloy and the general design put it prior to 1200 BCE.Bronze weapons were not made in ancient Egypt until after 2000 BC near the end of the Old Kingdom. It wasn’t until the Hyksos invasion of Egypt and their subsequent overthrow(circa 1550 BC), that the Egyptians began large scale production of bronze weapons using technologies learned from the Hyksos and neighboring cultures...

A nice terracotta head of Bes, fragmentary and corroded, but substantial and with fine classic features, Egyptian, Late-Roman Period, 500-100 AD. Comes attached to the original German gift letter from the 1920s-1930s.

Size: 70 x 55 mm.

Nice anepigraphic shabti, depicted mummiform with tripartite wig and false beard.
The small face shows nicely modeled features and rather large ears.
The hands are crossed over the chest and hold agricultural implements. The seedbag is slung over the left shoulder. The shabti has a back pillar and stands on an integral base.
The remnants of bone glue on the back point to an old mount...

A late period, finely carved stone mortar in black basalt, Egypt, 664-332 BC.

A lovely piece with pyramidal tappering sides to a short rectangular base. Hollowed from extensive use.

Size: 116 mm. long and 76 mm. wide. c. 28-29 mm. tall.

Condition: Good Very fine and intact with tiny nicks and ancient wear.

Relics of the Nile is pleased to present this large kneeling boat figure with original pigment. This figure has nicely rendered facial features with original pigments of black, red and yellow remaining. The figure's hair has significant pigment remaining with a band around the head. One arm is missing and a partial portion of the right arm remains. The figure measures a large 4" in height and 2.75" in depth...

A beautiful and intact torquise faience ushabti, Late Period, ca. 664 to 500 BC.

A mold-formed faience ushabti standing in mummiform with fused legs, holding implements, and with 8 rows of sharp hieroglyphs wrapping around the legs. The face presents with almond eyes, a prominent nose, and a petite chin, all beneath the lappets of the tripartite wig...

Super interesting massive amulet from an extremely old private collection, incl. the original envelope with collectors notes (late 19th.-early 20th. century).

The amulet in the shape of a double Uraeus (we think) and with an unidentified carthouche / hieroglyphs on both sides. Beautiful light torquise faiance.

Size: c. 38 mm. tall, incl. the loop.

Wooden animal sarcophagus, perhaps intended for a serpent, fashioned as a shrine with nice cavetto cornices on top and a vertical sliding door in front.
Carved from a single piece of cedar with interior grooves to fit the front panel.
These kinds of shrines could house mortuary statues, mummified remains of animals or symbols associated with a particular deity.

Rare Egyptian pottery jar or beaker, NAQADA I - II, c. 4000 - 3200 BC.

Attractive conical jar in fine hardburnt redish and darker pottery.

An eastern mediterranean core – formed glass amphoriskos

Core-formed opaque blue Amphoriskos with yellow and white trail wound spirally around rim and neck, under the shoulder both trails are combed into a feather pattern. The knob at the bottom and the handles are made of greenish clear glass.

A large two-colored Egyptian eye of Horus amulet. Made of turquoise glazed composite, the pupil and eyebrows accentuated in dark brown. Dating c. to the 22nd to 25th Dynasties, 946 - 657 B.C. Condition: traces of age. Dimension: c. 3.3 cm long, 2 cm high, 0.5 cm thick.
