Nice suite of three faiance items, inc. two Djetpillar amulets in torquise and Egyptian blue pierced for suspension, together with a large faiance bead or fertility amulet (?), Late period, c. 660-332 BC.

Size: 23, 15 and 12 mm. long for each.

Condition: All are completely intact.

Provenance: Formerly in the private collection of Eberhard Hanfstaengl (1886-1973)...

This amulet is carved from a beautiful blue-green stone, most probably jasper and has been done with great attention to detail. The surface has a wonderful "mellow" patina and great tactile appeal. It measures 1"in height and is free from any restoration or re-carving. Inserted on a wooden stand, easily removed, should one desire. Dating to the Middle Kingdom. Ex London art market. An attractive glass head of a Lion, in black glass becoming multible colours at the rim, Egyptian, c. Ptolemaic-Roman period, 3rd. cent. BC-1st. century AD.

Terracotta figure of a seated baboon, animal sacred to Thot, the Egyptian god of writing and other intellectual pursuits.
Crisp facial features with pronounced supra-orbital ridges, deep set eyes and a dominant, protruding muzzle. The cheek fur and the upper body cape are typical for male baboons...

A lovely ancient Egyptian Scarab, more than 2,300 years old, from the famous Mitry collection (see our Homepage). It is 3/8” long (9.5 mm) and made of steatite, an easy-to-carve stone that hardens when heated. Scarabs empowered life and resurrection and were often placed under mummy wrappings to protect the body and to help it resurrect. This Scarab comes in a jewelry display cup.

The sarcophagus comes complete with only minor insect holes to the bottom of the piece, which do not detract. A very large amulet of the Wedjat or Wadjet type, 'The Eye of Ra', Late period, 660-332 BC.

Nicely glazed in three differnet colors and with horisontically drilled loop.

Size: 53 mm. long and 33 mm. tall.

Condition: About Very Fine, basically intact but with minor losses and wear to the glaze.

A finely engraved Hyksos scarab, 17th.-16th. cent. BC.

The scarab is engraved with robe pattern in the center and with other hieroglyphs to each side, untranslated.

The seat of power of the Hyksos kings was the city of Avaris in the Nile Delta, from where they ruled over Lower Egypt and Middle Egypt up to Cusae.

Condition: Nice Very fine and completely intact with remnants of torquise glaze in the devices.

Votive figure of a naked woman, standing with her arms to the thighs. The head shows schematic features and a casket like wig. Schematic rendering of the body, crudely carved in the round.
Enhanced with red and black painted decoration. Red for the necklaze, the upper arm bracelets and the (decorative lines) around the shins. Remains of black on the hair and the pelvic triangle.
Freestanding figures are comparatively rare...

A fine and large Egyptian bronze figure of Osiris in mummyform, Late Period, 26th Dynasty (Saite Period), about 627 - 525 B.C.

The large figure depicts the mummiform Osiris wearing the Atef-crown holding crook and flail. Interestingly, there's remains of ancient gilt on the body in many places.

Size: c. 17 cm.
