Not a burial placement, this scarab would have been worn by someone as a talisman during everyday life, as evidenced by the even polishing over the surface. Item measures 25.58 mm (1 ") in length. A vintage necklace in fine twisted silver wire of ancient clay mummy beads and a large faience amulet of Bes, Late period to Roman period, c. 600-100 BC.

Size: 43 mm. for the amulet, the necklace is 29-30 cm. in a double row. Incl. a couple of - probably modern but old - charms in bronze or cobber.

Relics of the Nile is pleased to present this fragmented, but still lovely Egyptian blue faience offering cup with cartouche. The back and part of the lower portion is missing, however the front containing the cartouche of the pharaoh is still intact. The cartouche is highlighted in black and appears to contain the cartouche of Amenhotep. The vessel measures 2" in height, plus the size of the base. This is an authentic Ushabti figurine from ancient Egypt, dating back to the period between 1200 and 300 BC. The figurine is made of turquoise glazed faience and is decorated with black hieroglyphic inscriptions. The Ushabti was a funerary figurine that was placed in tombs to serve and accompany the deceased in the afterlife. This particular Ushabti is a remarkable example of ancient Egyptian artisans' intricate and beautiful craftsmanship...

Amulets in the form of a writing tablet are unique to the Twenty-Sixth Dynasty and later. They are always rectangular in shape with a suspension tube at the top and made from green, blue, or dark-colored material, feldspar being by far the most common...

A finely polished and fully symethric Egyptian stone jar made of a type of beautiful chlorite stone, 3rd.-2nd. mill. BC.

The jar was used to hold cosmethics in the 3rd.-2nd. millenium BC. Nice marks of drill inside, recessed footring and a tiny rim also carved!

Interesting cross hanger, carved in a dark steatite stone, with white slip or glazing. The white cross form is inlaid with another red cross form in sandstone or ceramics and done with an extra cross bar. Christian Egypt, 100-500 AD, probably Coptic.

Condition: Choice and intact with wear to the white glaze and extensive patination.

A lovely large scarab, probably made in Canaanite lands of the Levante, Early New Kingdom 16th.-15th. century BC.

A beautiful carving of a large Lion attacking a rather small feeble Human with a spear. The Lion is here probably meant to represent the Pharao and the human, could be a Levantine warrior? Very well carved base and with carvings on the back as well.

A lovely green hardstone amulet in the form of a double ostrich feather, probably New Kingdom, 16th.-11th. century BC.

The front is flat with a shallow central groove delineating the two plumes.

Size: 36-37 mm. tall. Substantial piece in hand.

A pair of ancient pendant from the Egyptian late-Ptolemaic Period, after 600 BC.

Both amulets are pierced horisontically to be worn as pendants. One is of the seated Bastet as a Cat (2,1 cm.), the other is a head of a human god or Pharao (2,5 cm.).

This barrel-shaped ‘Fustat bead’ is made of six sections of spiral mosaic cane laid next to each other longitudinally in alternating directions, creating a zigzag effect. The striping is the same in all cane sections—wide black, thin red, wide brown, thin red—only the direction changes. The core of the twisted cane sections, visible in cross-section at the ends of the bead, is translucent pale green. There is no core bead, the cane sections themselves were shaped into a bead...

A nice Egyptian wooden painted figure of a Falcon, Late period, c. 660-332 BC.

Fragmentary figure of Serapis. With thick wavy hair and thick beard. 2nd/3rd Century A.D. 3 inches high. Mounted. Old Belgian collection. Serapis was an Egyptian god whose devotees united the worship of the Apis bull and the god Osiris. His cult, which originated at Memphis, rose to its greatest significance at Alexandria during the reign of Ptolemy I.

A finely engraved Hyksos scarab, 17th.-16th. cent. BC.

The scarab is engraved with robe pattern in the center and with other hieroglyphs to each side, untranslated.

The seat of power of the Hyksos kings was the city of Avaris in the Nile Delta, from where they ruled over Lower Egypt and Middle Egypt up to Cusae.

Condition: Nice Very fine and completely intact with remnants of torquise glaze in the devices.
