Attractive black-glazed oinochoe with trefoil spout and arched handle. The neck area decorated with grape wine and tendril motifs suspended from bands. The applied white color partially ‘gilded’ with a yellow ochre wash.
Fingerprints around the foot indicate that the vase was dipped into the glaze.

Appears to represent the nude Adonis, his right leg slightly bent on the knee, standing on a raised pedestal, gazing down on an enamoring Aphrodite, with hair pulled back into a bun, her right arm bent at the elbow, and her left hand, grasping her long, flowing drapery. This is an Achaean archer's arrowhead that was crafted in bronze using the V-shaped tanged technique. It belongs to the type VII c category and dates back to the Bronze Age, which lasted from 1500 B.C. until the final phases of the Mycenaean period in 1100 B.C. Ancient Greek archers commonly used this type of arrowhead during the Trojan War.

Relics of the Nile is pleased to present this detailed ancient Greek bronze coin. The coin features the a choice patina with the head of an emperor on the obverse. The reverse of the coin features a standing figure flanked with Greek text on either side. This is a lovely example that measures 3/4" in diameter. Ex-McInnis Collection.

The barrel-shaped body decorated with owls facing each other with their wings raised, the other side features a large (tuna?) fish. The owls rendered in silhouette technique, the fish with reserved eye and teeth.

Rare yellow-slipped patera with sculptural handle in the shape of a naked youth with arms upraised as if to support the shallow bowl upon his head.
The representation of the handle follows conventions prevailing since the Archaic Period.
‘Gilded’ pottery (ceramica dorata) is unusual in Apulia, but typically occurs in Canosa. Patera and oinochoe were there part of funeral sets to offer libations to the deceased.

Greek Apulian Lekanis, Lady of Fashion - Ca. 350 B.C., from the ancient Greek colony of Apulia, in southern Italy. Terracotta lidded pottery vessel with footed base, dome-shaped lid and knob handle. Lid painted in red-figure style with series of two Lady of Fashion in profile and two palmette panels. The Lekanis was used in antiquity to store soaps and scented perfumes.

Attic red-figure askos decorated with a dog and a panther crouching on the domed top. The animals face the spout and are seen with one foreleg raised.
The panther has turned the head towards the viewer and shows a spotted coat.
The shallow vessel shows a low dome-shaped top, the small flaring spout raises obliquely from the shoulder; overarching handle. The flat base reserved with a tiny mold on the edge.
