A very beautiful and rare bronze mace head, Western Asian, dating to the 2nd. millenium BC

A rare Luristan bronze mace head. The upper body with a segmented swelling, bordered by bands, interesting large discus at each end, makes it a very rare type.

Size: ca. 129 mm. high and massive.

Condition: Superb, with excellent brown and green patina - a gem!

Provenance: Old Danish private Collection (Hans Henningsen), bought in the 1980s in London.

A massive, solid cast silver bracelet of the finest workmanship of the Achaimenid period, 5th-4th century BC.

The bracelet or armring would have been made for a very highranking / rich costumer in antiquity, since these are usually hollowcast, when this thickness and size. The silver bracelet with faux-twist and twisted wire details to the body, finials with serpent- or Lion head detailing.

Weight: ca. 410 grams...

A lovely condition pottery bowl with caligraphy, Islamic Samenid Dynasty, ca. 9th.-10th. century.

Interestingly this bowl has much original glaze with limited areas of restoring. Decorated with wonderful original caligraphy in black on white glaze.

Condition: Superb for type with original crackled glaze...

A very interesting and rare motif on a massive cylinder seal in white stone (marble?), Mesoopotamia, c. 3000-2700 BC.

The seal artfully engraved with an animal fight between an elephant, Lion and gazelle. Very thick seal that gives an impressive imprint.

Size: 28 mm. tall and c. 17 mm. wide.

Condition: Near Very fine, intact, but with some corr. to c. 1/3 of the engraving...

Carved in black stone with a winged deity between horned animals, fishes and a Scorpion, Kingdom of the Mitanni, 15th - 14th cent BC.

Finely composed and engraved in drill style.

Size: 19 mm. tall and 11 mm. wide.

Condition: Good Very fine.

Rare Seljuk bronze key with an eagle standing on the back of a rooster while pecking at the head of its prey. The rooster has a small crest and protruding eyes.
Birds play an important role in the Seljuk decorative repertoire, and in this case they probably evoke a demonstration of power.

Youthful head of a Bodhissatva with superbly modeled asymmetries. The protruding left side of the face together with the falling line of the eyes and of the mouth make the head appear bent to the right. The yellow-ochre face shows black eyebrows and faint red pigment on the swollen eyelids which close the eyes to slits. Traces of red also appear on the sensitively modeled fleshy mouth...

A sbeautiful and exceptionally condition pottery bowl with torquoise glaze, black markings and a finely decorated pattern on the interior. Seljug period, 11th.-12th. century.

The beautiful bowl and rather rare type of pedestal bowl. With silvery iridescence on the surface of both the interior and the exterior. Very beautiful colours.

With spherical body on short foot, the tubular neck with traces of engravings, the handle with beading and pomegranate thumb-rest, minor dents, hairline crack and a couple of small holes to body, but intact, overall patination to surface.

A very impressive and decorative bronze lance with a long, bent tang, massive socket and a broad, leaf-shaped blade with highly profiled midrib.

A beautiful lance that would have been highly efficient on combat.

An important pottery bowl with motif, Near East area, ca. 12th.-13th. century AD.

Absolutely stunning conically shaped pottery bowl with a red and blue decoration on a cream-white ground: A fine lady standing amidst flowers, holding a purse (?). Beautiful archaic style, from prior to the Ban of figural representation in the art of Islam.

Reportedly found in Western Mesopotamia, the motif of this fine large stamp seal, is known also in Eastern Anatolia and dates to the late 5th.-4th. millenium BC (Ubaid period).

The seal is expertly engraved with the image of a scary spiked demonic creature on 4 legs. In the field before him, there's a bird.

Size: 36 mm. wide and 28 mm. tall, height is 7-8 mm.

Highly interesting and impressive seal which is probably depicting a mythical demon.

A rare and elaborate bronze battle axe, Late bronze age or early Ironage, Pontic–Caspian steppe ca. 1200-800 BC.

A finely made late bronzeage axe that combines stylistical elements of the Indo-European nomadic style with the Indo-Iranian style.

A com pact axe with a large oval socket with 4 ridges and small dots and a small deadly blade. The full axe is shaped like a stylized birds head.

A large and well-preserved tanged bronze sword, c. 2nd. millenium BC.

The style with the thick mid-rib and two rivets in the corner of the blade is known from the Assyrian period, and the present specimen provincially made around the lands of the Caspian Sea. On this specimen one rivet is still remaining. Very attractive and impressive!

Size: 45 cm.

Condition: Choice - very fine green patina and good metal quality - very few losses and roghness to the edge.

A massive bronze figurine from the medieval period, Islamic, Seljuq Empire, 10th.-11th. century AD.

The lion stands erect on 4 legs and incised details of the mane and head. A particularly charming specimen with finely made features of the head of the Lion, heavy body and seperate legs. Would have been quite expensive in the medieval period with it's high weight of solid bronze and nice workmanship.

A very interesting and wonderful bust of a male god in silver, Ancient Near East, ca. 1st. millenium BC.

A pre-roman figure from the Ancient Near or middle East, unresearched for culture.

The finial depicts a divine figure likely a god, bald-headed with fine facial features, halo behind. Rivet holes for attaching it to a shaft of bone or wood now lost.
