Rare Chinese Western Han Dynasty Bronze Cauldron / Jar

This domestic bronze cooking vessel was made during the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC - AD 8) or possibly earlier. It has two handles on opposing sides of the shoulder. It is quite "heavily-cast" and the casting lines are quite pronounced, especially across the flat base. There is some corrosion, mostly to the base where it comprises mostly malachite (green) and azurite (blue)...

A hexagonal open-work cast bronze incense stick or utensils holder with two dragon handles, standing on three feet. The sides showing four high-relief immortals and two lotus flowers, the base with lattice pattern. Condition: traces of age. Dimension: height: c. 16.3 cm, c. 14.8 cm wide.

You have to imagine the golden dragon writhing on an immense panel of dark wood carved with flames and clouds...

This magnificent and striking tureen is made of cloisonne having a slightly mustard yellow ground and beautifully accented with green diaper around the mouth of the bowl. An exceptional large and massive bronze 'Mat' weight, Chinese, Han Dynasty, c. 206 BC – 220 AD.

This weight which is probably dating to the Eastern Han, 25-220 AD, depicts a fancyful reclining animal, probably a Dog. Cast in bronze with fine archaic features and a round object at the right hind leg, which could be symbolizing a cash coin.
The beast was finely gilded and plated in antiquity and much of the gold is still visible on the surface...

Vintage Chinese silver pin in a shape of a mythical animal. Judging by the flame like mane it is possibly a huodou - a large black dog that can emit flames from its mouth. Very good crisp work, in great condition. There is no hallmark, but I am confident that the metal is silver. Weight 5.7 grams, length 1.25 inches.

19th century repousse Chinese silver hat ornament in a shape of a Foo lion on a hollow base, its front paw on a free spinning filigree ball. During Qing Dynasty silver figures of traditional mythical characters were sewn onto hats for decoration. Beautifully made, crisp detailing of the beast and different plants around the base, will look much better once tarnish is cleaned. Weight 6.1 grams, height 1.37 inches.

19th century repousse Chinese silver sew-on clothing ornament in a shape of a Chinese sage riding a mythical qilin. During Qing Dynasty silver figures of traditional mythical characters were sewn onto clothing and hats for decoration. Nicely made from low grade silver, small holes around perimeter for sewing onto clothes, will look much better once tarnish is cleaned. Height 1.83 inches.
