These extraordinary Sumida Gawa vases have a red ground with leaf-shaped moulding wrapped around the surface. Thick earthy-coloured flambe glaze cascades down from the rims and over branch-like double handles. The decoration is made up of 6 individual characters on each vase in humorous situations, monkeys on one vase and people on the other...

Museum grade very large Japanese Ginbari enamel vase. Ginbari is a technique using a foil design made with an embossing plate. The vase has a robin's egg blue enamel ground comprised of small flowers, with Wisteria branches bearing pastel green and purple flowers, small birds perched and flying through the tree branches. The elongated vase has a slightly tapered form with short, fluted foot and neck...

This unique antique Japanese vase with four handles has a creamy grayish colored body with crackles and numerous pinholes. A couple of crackles are missing (shown in the photo) at the foot. It is 11 1/2 inches tall, circa early 1900s.

Japanese porcelain vase of a tapered cylindrical form, with flatted top, and small fluted mouth. The piece depicts three herons in white against a navy blue enamel ground. The foot is signed by Nishiura Enji with two character signature in cobalt blue. Nishiura's studio was famous for it's 'spraying technique' which was unique at the time.

An antique Japanese Satsuma Jar that measures about 18" tall x 13" in diameter. The jar has the "thousand faces" design, skillfully executed in gold and raised moriage enamels. On one side is Kannon, the Buddhist Goddess, and on the other I believe it is the Immortal, Lu Tung-pin, who has the power to slay dragons and evil. Additionally there are eighteen Rakan, all of which have the same face. Also there is a dragon flying beneath the Kannon...

Wonderful Antique Japanese Imari two-piece flower arranger, Meiji Period c 1868-1912; the bowl with looped and reticulated border of interlocking rings, the interior decorated with blue, orange and beige fish and lilies, auspicious symbols of longevity and good fortune. The underside marked with a lucky symbol. The bowl is in good condition, some flaking on the perforated cover. No restoration or chips. The dish measures 12" diameter x 2 3/4" high.

A Fukagawa porcelain 8 7/8 inch soup bowl. Iris decoration from Chuji Fukagawa's own 19th century design book. Blue underglaze and red, yellow and gold overglaze enamel decoration. Mt. Fuji mark and Fukagawa Sei inside the foot ring. Late Meiji or early Taisho. One small chip along the rim (no cracks or lines.)
