A pile of shish lions growl in play as they stack upon one another, their bodies draped in glassy crackled plum colored glaze dating from the 19th century. Very unusual, they are 10 inches (25.5 cm) tall and in excellent condition. The lowermost creature looks startled, teeth bare as it turns to see a large fellow grinning from above, while looking from up top a pup cocks his head churlishly to the side. There is one tiny nick in the glaze on one ear (see circled ear in the last photograph)...

The iron nails slide along routing to enable the pressing action. Well used and in fair condition - exhibiting some distress by loss of wood on ends of the top board. A nicely decorative curiosity.
