There is no damage or restoration. It has obvious rework. It is from the Dr. Raymond Thomas collection. I have only seen two of these in all my years of collecting. Good small stone (probably basalt) scraper/adz from the Maori people- very hard, cannot be scratched with stainless steel. Polished on one side only with nice sharp edge. This should predate European contact since utilitarian objects like this would have been replaced by metal materials, so this is dated of 1300CE-1800CE. I bought this in a flea market in Auckland about 30 years ago. L: 5.5cm/2.2in and W: 2.5cm1in.
